Perfect for travelers on a budget!
What this hotel lacked in aesthetics (and amenities-no in room coffee pot or microwave) was more than compensated for by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff! They do offer coffee or tea in the lobby for a small fee, but at this location you’re only two blocks from a shopping center with coffee shops (and fast food if youare so inclined). I can’t say enough about the hotel staff... They were wonderful!! They gave us the best food and sight-seeing advice! Thank you thank you to Richard, Clarissa, Mary and there was one more very nice gentleman on our last night who told us to eat at Kintaro’s (this is a MUST!!) but we didn’t get his name. We were welcomed and treated as if we were old friends--we are going back in April and will be staying again!

Great place to stay for the price
The Kauai Sands was a great place to stay for people on a budget! The staff was very friendly and helpful! The location was convenient. The sunrises are beautiful! We’d definitely come back!

Clean & comfortable
Kauai Sands is an old hotel but our room was clean & well decorated. We expected much worse for 2.5 star rating, but they did upgrade our room free. All employees we encountered were extremely nice. No complaints for the price, besides we don’t spend much time in our room. There are so many activities on the island, one can stay well entertained. The beach at the hotel is nice also. Kauai Pasta in Kapaa has great food. Yahoo restaurant was a big disappointment for the high price. We were disappointed because the Coconut Beach Marketplace has a lot of closed stores now. We saw whales while sunbathing on the beach at hotel. I wish we had got a kitchenette so we could have taken advantage of the many farmer’s market on the island.
