A high-speed ferry brings you to Macau where you’ll spend a full day acquainting yourself with the landmarks and history of this first and last Asian site under European rule. Your tour includes some of this singular city’s most renowned locations where stylized architecture lends a Portuguese air to this erstwhile colony.

Visit:
The ruins of St. Paul’s Cathedral: Built in the late 16th century, St. Paul’s was once the largest Catholic church in Asia. Fire later destroyed the cathedral leaving only its façade, which was carved by exiled Japanese Christians. Climb the stairs at the rear of the ruins for panoramic views from the city’s most popular sight.

The Goddess of Mercy Temple: Present buildings date to the 1600s at this complex founded in the 13th century. Elaborate porcelain figures ornament the rooftops at this historic location where the first trade treaty between China and the United States was signed in 1844.

Penha Church: Built atop the hill of its namesake, the current chapel dates back to 1837. Surround yourself with the stunning views on the hilltop where this church’s distinctive bell tower can be seen from anywhere in the harbor.

The Ma Kok Temple: Giving the city its name, this temple is the oldest of Macau’s three major temples and is dedicated to the goddess of seafarers and fishermen.

Also visit the barrier gate to mainland China, and wander through a modern addition that makes this city a popular lure for gamblers—one of its many popular casinos. Your city highlights sightseeing tour also includes lunch.
