Details

Enter the world of Louisiana's storied past on the great River Road. Along the way panoramic views of Lake Ponchartrain are available as you cross the Bonnet Carre Spillway (the flood outlet of the Mississippi River).

The Laura Plantation tour is based upon more than 5,000 pages of documents found in the French National Archives and upon Laura's Memories of the Old Plantation Home, in which she details 250 years of true-life stories of the Creole women, children and slaves who lived and worked on the plantation. Laura boasts 11 historic buildings on the National Register—including slave cabins in which the West African folktales of Compair Lapin, later know as Br'er Rabbit, were recorded over 140 years ago.

Awards and accolades
Laura Plantation was awarded the "Top Travel Attraction in Louisiana" by the Louisiana Travel Promotions Association in 2007. It was also listed among "The top 25 most popular house museums in the United States" by the American Academy of Architecture and Design.

Note:
Reservation confirmation is required. Children younger than 2 years of age may participate free of charge. Please arrive 15 minutes in advance of your scheduled departure time. Due to the historic nature of the plantation, access to the second floor (living quarters) is by stairs only. No photography is allowed inside the plantation home. Walking the grounds is an integral part of this experience.

Redemption instructions

After you book your activity, follow these 3 easy steps:
1. Print your voucher; locate the voucher in your travel confirmation e-mail or in the My Trips/My Itineraries link on the site.
2. Follow the redemption instructions on your voucher; it iscritical to do this before you depart.
3. Take all vouchers with you; you must redeem one voucher per person.

Exchange your voucher for activity:
Reservation confirmation is required. Please call Gray Line New Orleans as far in advance of your arrival as possible to schedule your desired tour date and time; the customer service phone number appears on your printed voucher(s). At the time of your reservation, Gray Line New Orleans will issue you a confirmation number. Tours do sell out, so it is very important to call as soon as possible. On the day of your tour, bring your printed voucher(s) and confirmation number to the ticket window on the day of your reservation; you will be given passes to the tour at this time. Please arrive 15 minutes in advance of your scheduled departure time.

Cancellations and Changes: This Activity can be changed or cancelled without penalty at any time prior to two days before the scheduled start of your trip. The scheduled start of your trip is defined as your hotel check-in date, your departure date of the originating flight, or the date of the Activity if the Activity was booked without a flight or a hotel.
