Day 1: Edinburgh-Perthshire-Dalwhinnie-Loch Laggan-Loch Ness

Cross the Forth Railway Bridge before entering the Highlands via beautiful Perthshire. Take in the scenery of the wild Drumochter Pass, driving through mountains as you head for Dalwhinnie, home to Scotland's highest whisky distillery. Stop for a wee dram of the famous 'Uisge Beath' or ‘Water of Life’. Enter Monarch of the Glen country, as you pass Loch Laggan and Glenbogle (Ardverickie Castle) before reaching your overnight accommodation by Loch Ness. You will have the option of enjoying an evening cruise on the Loch; a great way to end an unforgettable first day.

Day 2: Loch Ness-Culloden Battlefield-Inverness-Glen Affric-Loch Ness

Following the entire Loch Ness shoreline, you’ll first visit the atmospheric Culloden Battlefield, scene of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s defeat and the end of the Jacobite Rebellion. Explore Inverness, capital of the Highlands, before venturing to Glen Affric, arguably Scotland’s most scenic Glen. On your return to Loch Ness you’ll stop at the spectacular viewpoint beside Urquhart Castle.

Day 3: Eilean Donan Castle-Skye

Visit the most photographed castle in Scotland, the famous stronghold Eilean Donan Castle (featured in the filmHighlander) before spending the rest of the day exploring Skye. Highlights include the mysterious Quirang mountain pass and a walk through some of Skye's extraordinary geological scenery. Visit Kilt Rock, with its waterfall over the cliffs. Spend the evening in a quaint village on the Island.


Day 4: Skye-Maillaig-Fort William-Oban

Spend the morning exploring the south of the island, named ‘the garden of Skye’ before taking the ferry to Maillaig. You’ll have time to explore this busy west coast fishing village, and if you choose, enjoy its famous seafood. Join one of the most spectacular railway journeys in the world, which takes you to Fort William, and crosses the famous Glenfinnan viaduct featured in the Harry Potter films. From Fort William, you’ll head to Glencoe before seeing the gorgeous town of Oban, which is home for the last night.

Day 5: Loch Awe-Inverary-Loch Fyne-Arrochar Alps-Stirling-Edinburgh

Pass picturesque Loch Awe (Scotland’s longest Loch) and then head to Inveraray, located on the banks of the famous sea Loch, Loch Fyne which is famous for its oysters. Travel over the Arrochar Alps and stop for the magnificent view at Rest and be Thankful. Lunch is served on the shores of the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond before heading into the Trossachs national park and onto Stirling. It’s a short drive from here back to Edinburgh.
