What you can expect

Venture to Cholula, one of Mexico's Magical Villages designated by the Secretary of Tourism. Pass by a Talavera ceramic factory, one of the world’s largest pyramids, Cholula’s picturesque downtown, and even a cider factory.

Once you reach the city of Cholula, which brings together San Pedro and San Andres municipalities, your first stop is a Talavera workshop, where you witness the manufacturing of this unique white-glazed ceramic the Puebla region is famous for. Dating back to 1531, Talavera is produced with local clay found in abundance.

Continue to the Great Pyramid of Cholula, the largest in the world if considering the basement size. Walk inside its tunnels and climb up to the hill, where you find the impressive Virgin of the Remedies temple, built by Spaniards in 1549. From the top, enjoy a stunning view over Puebla, Cholula, as well as the majestic Popocatépetl, an active volcano.

Head to two of Mexico’s most gorgeous structures—the masterfully decorated San Francisco Acatepec and Santa María Tonantzintla churches. The latter was completed by indigenous people using the expressive scope of the Baroque style to capture their universe in plaster designs with figures of dark-skinned angels, children with feathered headdress, fruit, and ears of corn.

Before returning to Puebla, visit the cider factory of Copa de Oro to learn about the process of making cider and have a tasting. Finally, walk by San Pedro Cholula's main square to visit the Royal Chapel, San Gabriel Convent, and Plaza de la Concordia.
