This hotel was amazing! The staff were very welcoming throughout my stay and said hello and asked if we liked our stay so far. The casino is huge! Very nice in the casino, my only complaint is the ventilation is not that great and the smoke smell is pretty bad, if you are a non smoker like myself. They have a limited area of non smoking for slot machines so you would have to go to the smoking area. Other than that, a lot of great restaurants to eat at in the hotel with reasonable prices, a diner that is open 24 hours as well as a burger joint.

I expect the room to be more cleaner especially the carpet and bed skirt. My wife and I were comfortable on the luxury king bed, we slept good in all of our 3 nights stay. Bathroom is big and clean with a nice shower but I don't see myself using the phone next to the commode. On our 2nd day I find it strange when suddenly one of the housekeeping staff open the door while were taking our afternoon, she suddenly walked in and to her surprised that we were in the room.

This hotel is in a lovely historic building. The reception staff was efficient, friendly and helpful when we checked in, but there was no one at the desk when we wanted to check out early on a Sunday morning. Our room was large and well laid out with a beautiful view of the river. The room was a little tired looking and not as clean as it could have been. Our room was not serviced on Saturday, leaving us without replacement of coffee and tissue which had run out. The toilet seat in the bathroom was loose. From the hotel you have easy access to the riverwalk, which is very nice, but it does not connect all the way through to the city or to Belle Isle. Hopefully the city has a plan to complete that trail or to post signs that would direct a cyclist or pedestrian to the appropriate streets to use to re-join the path closer to the city.

Stayed for four nights. The hotel was wonderful, mainly geared for business people, but beautiful and comfortable. Valets and front desk are ready to help you. Rooms are modern and clean. I am from Detroit originally, and it was great to stay downtown with everything so close. Detroit is definitely coming back. I hope that it being bought by Marriot doesn't change it much. Ok here are some cons: Housekeeping was super weird. They would make the bed and leave more towels but wouldn't take used towels or empty any trash in the room. Never left clean glasses and the room service tray stayed outside our room for 2 days until I called. I threw away a pair of sneakers, left them in the room when we left, and they called me to tell me. They seemed put out that I had left them and told me that they could probably donate them. They were meant to be trash, but they are weird about trash, as you can see. They do not offer any breakfast or coffee and the wifi was not free. But, overall, I recommend this hotel for a real Detroit experience. Valets were great!

Detroit’s metro area is home to nearly six million people. Downtown Detroit has undergone extensive urban renewal in the last 15 years. The 982-acre Belle Isle Park is a popular destination. Sports are big in the Motor City. The Detroit Tigers play baseball at Comerica Park, the Detroit Lions (football) are at Ford Field, and the Detroit Red Wings (hockey) are at Joe Louis Arena.
