The Grand is a lovely hotel on the seafront with great transport links frequent bus service outside and opposite Torquay railway station. We stayed 3 nights in a double with sea view, the room was clean comfortable furniture a little shabby the bathroom was a let down very tired looking with a dreaded shower curtain I really hate those things, The reception area is beautiful with art deco lights and staff are very helpful,we ate in the brasserie on the 2nd night, there was other guests complaining about the length of time they had been waiting for food, we didn't wait that long but the food wasn't great had to send back lobster bisque it was revolting ,we ate out the next night.

Excellent hotel, very polite and helpful staff. Short walking distance to the shops and restaurants. And for all of you Agatha Christie fans out there, it's on the Agatha Christie Mile as well as being minutes away from Torquay museum with the Christie wing.
Location is very romantic and really recommend for couples.

we went for a 50th birthday treat family member weekend. everything was perfect from the Greeting and complimentary tea while checking in, the rooms are roomy and luxurious, lots of little extras, and breakfast to die for so varied and wide choice. Peter the genial host, nothing to much trouble and helped with bookings for evening meals and theatre. we were a party of 2 couples and a single and no complaints from anyone. will definitely return and recommend to anyone wanting a touch of luxury stay within close proximity to torquay centre.

The reception staff were quite unfriendly no conversation made us feel quite unwelcome almost as if we were an inconvienience. Wich was unfortunate as the room hotel location and view from our room was excellent. Also we reported to reception at 0700 hrs that the car park outside of our lodge was icy, having sliped over coming out ,nothing was done about this and the same situation occured the following morning.

The landlord and landlady were very friendly and welcoming, and even offered to babysit our dog while we attended a family funeral. The hotel itself is right in the centre of town, a short walk from the river and the many historic buildings. We enjoyed the bar and the restaurant, and found the serving staff helpful and friendly. All in all, it was a most pleasurable stay.

The Riviera comprises three main towns: Torquay is the most fashionable and popular with a luxury marina, good beaches, and family attractions including a famous Model Village and the Kent’s Cavern. Paignton is a more traditional English resort, boasting a superb zoo. Brixham is not only a picturesque fishing harbour but one of Britain's busiest fishing ports. The adjacent area, the South Hams, is known as one of the prettiest in England.
