Hotel itself is like an old country house that needs to be updated a bit. Room was ok - bathroom shower was actually a drain in the floor with expandable doors that you pulled out around it. Nothing fancy. Outside there were two hot tubs - one was out of commission. There was also a steam shower. Restaurant food was good but expensive - and you basically have to eat there as you are not that close to any other restaurants. I would recommend it. For the price it was a good hotel.

Easy, fast check-in with late hours, and gave a town map with attractions listed.
Room and furnishings are clean and basic, shared bathroom was only among the 4 rooms in the building which was a plus. Location could be good for viewing the northern lights at night but unfortunately we had cloudy skies so can't vouch for it. Our room faced the backyard but other rooms may have the advertised "mountain view".
The host Helga was very nice and offered helpful advice on which Icelandic salts (gift boxes) to select based on what I was looking for.
Overall a pleasant stay for a very reasonable price!

From the moment we arrived, until the minute we left, we were treated as valued guests. The hotel is based on a working horse farm offering a variety of rides and the horse theme is carried throughout the hotel, with rooms named after horses and even horse shoes for curtain tie backs which is a lovely touch.
The rooms are spacious, warm, comfortable and have most of what you need. We were loaned a hairdryer during our stay and there was a flat screen TV with more than usual satellite channels, a desk/dressing table, Icelandic wool blankets on the beds. full length mirror and patio door. En-suite bathrooms have a wet-room style shower, towels and plentiful hot water.
We ate in the restaurant one evening. The price is set, with main courses at ISK4,400 and other courses available for extra charge. I believe the menu changes every day and if the price had been lower (not a fault of the hotel as all food prices in Iceland are extremely high) we would have eaten here every day. I had the salmon with creamed leeks whilst my companions enjoyed pork loin with lamb. Everyone commented on the quality of the food as being excellent.
The staff were always helpful, advising us of bad weather, where to travel to safely, where to visit and even looking out for the Northern Lights for us. Nothing seemed too much trouble and the helpfulness of the lovely staff really added to our enjoyment of our holiday. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Iceland.

This is our second stay at Golden Circle Apartments, and loved it again! The location could not be better, within walking distance to Fontana spa and Linden restaurant (pricey, but highly recommend!). Also, very close to all the major sites withing the Golden Circle. We arrived to Iceland at 4am (two families of 4 each with young kids) and wanted to have an option to check in early. The staff was more than accommodating - they offered two apartments for us in the same building and let us check in early.
The apartment was bright, spacious, and clean. It's not luxurious, but everything we needed was included. The kitchen was well-stocked, so we were able to have breakfast at home. Our apartment was on a second floor (no elevator) - this was not an issue for us, but might be for some. If that could be the case, ask for an apartment on the ground floor. Overall a great experience and would definitely stay there again.
