"great hotel, modern design"
Situated between a small 7-11 and a bank, the door angles open from the traffic near the grand park named Alameda Central. Beautiful Bellas Artes is nearby. This is the tourist mecca area of Mexico City. Droves of people during the day, in a rush, of course. There's also a Sanborns and KFC across the street. The area has all your food needs and an internet cafe and a little bit further a pharmacy. My taxi from the airport put on his emergency lights and had to stop right there. A bit iffy getting out in front of the hotel, better to ask for the street to the side, if possible. Front desk is efficient, they sell waters and a few amenities, but I was unable to check in an hour before 3pm. Room key fits in a slot that gets everything going from lights to air. Good view onto the street outside with a glimpse of Alameda. There is always a doorman for security. Quite pleased with the new design of my quaint room, the curtains are roller types that slide down or are pulled up. The room is minimalistic and small, not good for families, perfect for no frills travelers. Laundry room in the lobby. Quiet elevators. Shower design was new with the transparent glass doors and water pressure was good. I will stay in ONE when I'm visiting Mexico and I would like to try it in other cities like Monterrey. Plenty of towels, soaps, shampoos left in the room.

"Sweet-spot @ Buenavista"
Staff was very helpful throughout stay from pre-check-in, assistance getting a taxi to a tour, concierge, and a taxi to the airport. The Front Desk was very professional and competent with poise and helpfulness. My room was spacious and comfortable with well-tended usage. Linens were good and served with pride. T.V. was nice. Some of the fixtureswere showing their age, but not to the casual visitor. There was a background hum or rumble that seemed to be heard in the room, but originated outside the room, somewhere. The indoor environment was controllable, but there was hallway noise. Across the street from the City Express Buensvista was the Forum Mall which was next to the Metro Station Buenavista for the adventurous tourist. Mexico City has many places of interest and many places to get turned around in. Many interesting sites and people to see.

"Nice Hotel, good location in Centro Historico"
This is a clean, comfortable hotel in the Centro Historico. The room was large, clean and comfortable. The bathroom could use an update, and the shower pressure was weak. There is no a/c, but good air circulation from windows in bedroom and bathroom. Our room was on the North side of the building, which was comfortable temperature wise.. They were also experiencing some problems with elevators acting up, Hotel restaurant has a typical Mexican breakfast buffet, which was good and reasonably priced. If you want a 5 star hotel, this isn't for you. If you want clean comfortable accommodation as a base for walking/touring, give it a try

"Nice, Clean, Safe Hostel"
This is a very nice little hostel near the Zocalo. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly and did everything in their power to make us feel safe. The rooms are simple and plain but clean. The bed mattresses are a bit hard but you can still sleep well on them. The bathroom we had was shared between a few rooms but was also clean. Pretty little hostel. Would recommend! We also did the Xochimilco and Teotihuacan tours through them and they were both excellent.

"Nice budget hotel right next to the Zocalo"
We stayed at Hotel Canada for a week, and the location was perfect. We could walk to everything in the Centro Historico, and were easily able to catch a cab right at the front door for longer trips. The Hotel Canada is a sort of no-frills hotel, but we greatly enjoyed our stay. The staff is delightful, and always ready to provide anything you need. There is not air conditioning in the rooms, but we were given a fan that was so powerful we never turned it above the lowest setting. Our window faced onto the inner courtyard, so we didn't get street noise at night. The water is very hot and never ran out for the showers. The breakfasts are included and wonderful - there's a menu of options, carefully prepared, and we loved every one of them. Great coffee, too! It isn't fancy, but it was clean and comfortable - the cleaning staff is great - and just what we needed. I'd happily recommend it to anyone else looking for an affordable, easy option.

"Nice hotel near to metro Isabel"
If you are a tourist that just needs a place to spend the night for a great price, this is the place! Private bathroom, clean facilities. Just a heads up: ask for a inside room if you can't handle the noise of early morning traffic.

Pocket Guide: Mexico City Downtown Mexico City 2 stars Hotels

The Centro Historico is the cultural and retail center of Mexico City. In it you’ll find the Plaza de la Constitucion, or Zocalo, a bustling public square surrounded by historic buildings. One of these buildings is the Palacio Nacional, where murals by Diego Rivera are on display. Nearby is the excavation site of Templo Mayor, believed by the ancient Aztecs to be the center of the universe.
