"Nice Hotel"
Near 96th Subway Station and a 24h Duane Reade. No need for taxi. Small rooms but most of NY hotels are like that.

Loved the location, hotel not so much. Very outdated, the pipes that are exposed in the rooms made such a racket every hour that it was difficult to sleep, the windows were so drafty! The noise from the streets was loud. Finally, I asked to be moved to another room, the staff have accommodated me fast. Overall, great location, very " old New York" hotel.

"Good for a budget"
The hotel is small but their rooms are clean and bed was comfortable. Hbo included but not many other chanels but thats ok i wasn't spending much time there anyway. The free breakfast had yogurt, juice, coffee, bagels, waffles, boiled eggs, bananas and apples. I was fine with it and felt full. The neighborhood isnt "pretty", everything is asian letters. However i felt safe and its not dangerous. If you want to save money and take the train a few blocks away to nyc attractions this isnt bad at all. Also, i received a rude call from the receptionist saying they got complaints about us making noise which left me puzzled because we were just talking (not loudly) but then when we went out and heard loud music coming from another room which lead me to believe they got a noise complaint and called the wrong room. Overall i recommend the hotel if you aren't looking for luxury and want to save

"Excellent hotel with large and clean rooms"
This is the second time I stayed at the Chelsea Hotel and it was again a very good experience. Having been used to postage stamp-sized rooms at various hotels around Manhattan, it was good to return to a room with plenty of space and, believe it or not, plenty of cupboard space - all at a very reasonable price, both for the size and condition of the room and the location. Reviews tend to emphasize how well-placed this hotel is to transport, and this is absolutely true - close to the 1 and E (the one to the airport) subways among many others. And easy walks to the Flat Iron district and of course south to the West Village, etc., as well as North to mid-town. But the room and the cooperative and friendly staff should also rate highly. The breakfast - included in the price - consists of coffee (always topped up by attentive staff) and a range of bagels and muffins, and a large dining area so that one can usually get a table. Only criticism would be that it would be nice to have some fruit, but there is an excellent delicatessen just down W23rd street in the direction of the Flat Iron. The room was cleaned well and bed clean and comfortable and, yes, again, space to put your suitcase(s) and to hang your clothes, and a spacious and modern bathroom. This would again be my first choice on my next visit to New York City.

"Close to Cental Park"
If you are looking for a clean, relatively inexpensive room that you will spend little time in other than to sleep, this is the perfect place. Yes it is at the very southern end of Harlem, but that shouldn't make a difference. It's 1 block north of the park and I felt completely Comfortable walking around the neighborhood. I was in room 11 which is closest to the front door on the first floor. Noise was not a problem. I had no problem sleeping. My room was quite large but I have no doubt some are quite small. I just got lucky, I guess but would still go back even if the room was tiny. Bi just needed a clean, relatively quiet and safe place to stay. No more, no less. This isn't a hotel or a B&B. They rent guest rooms. While the trim was a perfect fit for my needs and budget, I was disappointed to learn they discount unused providing breakfast. The staff is very friendly, but there isn't anyone on duty late at night at the entrance. Probably a cost saving measure. I mention this because it used to have someone 24x7. The entrance requires a passcode and I was fine knot the least bit uncomfortable. I will definitely go back.
