"Close to the city centre"
The room was well sized for a short stay and was close to a number of the main attractions. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. The heating system was not intuitive, with no instructions meaning it was slightly too hot at night. Overall it was a decent place to stay.

"First time here "
First time at the Wheatlands and was very impressed. The manager/owner moved cars to make a space for us and when we asked for milk and a light bulb replacing he came up straight away. the hotel is in a good location although some road noise. Nice cosy bar with an organist. Room clean and comfy but being up on the third floor was very warm, had to have both windows wide open all night and then it was noisy so didn't sleep much. Breakfast adequate, very tasty but only got one piece of bacon and half a sausage?? Overall we had a lovely time though and would return

"Very helpful owner, handy location "
The owner was very helpful and friendly. The location is just out of the centre of the town and a short walk from all the main sights. The hotel could do with a bit of TLC, but the owner was saying there are plans for the future, so this may change.

"Potentially a great stay "
Unfortunately we arrived just after a storm so field exceptionally muddy, could have done with a driveway to the yurt( bell tent) . The bell tent was set out beautifully, strong lilo's beddingthere was a BBQ and tables and chairs outside, the lilo's were so cold, made from a shiny fabric that attracted the cold, they slipped on the ground and slid touching the sides of tent so ended up wet during the night, the children screamed in pain with the cold, we ended up sleeping on the floor which was far warmer. I would suggest taking something to place under the sheets to create warmth. Was so glad there were no other tents and only four caravans on site as there was only one shower, toilet block nice and clean but did not like the fact you had to share with male campers. We all loved the the set up and would defiantly recommend it. The breakfast was the best bit, served at the b&b. For reference there is little or no mobile phone service.

"Fantastic location! "
You can't get much closer to shops, bars and restaurants. A friendly welcome and room was fine. Nothing fancy but clean and great shower in en suite. We had read in reviews about the noise and they weren't exaggerating! The hotel will definitely suit people who like to party late better. The earplugs supplied did help a bit! Breakfast in Kennedys with a discount was fab too. We really enjoyed our trip.

Pocket Guide: York York 2 stars Hotels

Once enclosed by ancient fortified walls, York offers a wealth of cultural and historical sites, including York Castle, the National Railway Museum, and York Minster, a Gothic cathedral in the city center. The Shambles is a pedestrian-friendly street dating back to mediaeval ages, where it housed butcher shops. Today the scene is less gruesome, with quaint boutiques and tea rooms lining the road.
