"Might just be the perfect hostel"
The décor comes from another dimension, but the design of the 4 bed dorm rooms is actually very practical, making optimal use of space. Each bed comes with an under-bed drawer which locks with the same key-card that opens the door, so backpacks can all be tucked away, and valuables stowed securely. Each bunk has a light, mirror and electrical outlet inside, as well as two blinds, which can be rolled down across the two openings which give access to the bunk, for complete privacy. Making part of the bunk wall solid means there's something sturdy to which to attach the upper bunk ladder. The toilet's on one side of the room and the shower on the other. Great shower! Really forceful, and soap is provided. Towels are also provided. And breakfast is provided (roll with marmalade, strudel pastry and mini croissant -- one awakens to it in a little bag beside the bed, as if left by elves). In my experience, having a. a comfortable bed (and these beds are), b. soap in the bathroom, and c. breakfast provided in the price, is not that common in Croatia. The location is unbeatable. It is a SHORT walk from where the bus lets you down from the airport, and it is in the HEART of the old town. Out the window you can see it all: the sea, the ruins of the Roman forum, and St. Donat's church. You can remain in your room and be serenaded by a. accordion guy, b. Beatles' guy, c. blues guy, plus the daily clamour of church bells. A bevy of cleaners keep the place spotless.

"clean and minimial"
The rooms are clean and minimal. Perfect if you are just passing by and need a place to stay for a night. Do not look for luxury, as I said the rooms are minimal, but what else do you need if you need the room for a night or two and want to be close to all the cool restaurants and the sea side. It is noisy though, very close to a busy street with lots of pubs and clubs. Also, lots of people going in and out through the night. We were really tired, so slept ok, but might be annoying if you stay more then two days. In general you get what you pay for, and we were happy with our stay.

Pocket Guide: Zadar-Northern Dalmatia Zadar 2 stars Hotels

Sitting on a small fortified peninsular, Zadar’s traffic-free old town dates back to Roman times. Top sights include several 12th-century Romanesque churches and a treasury displaying gold and silver Byzantine reliquaries. Activities include one-day boat trips to the scattered islands of Kornati National Park, and hiking the mountains and gorges of Paklenica National Park on the mainland. The local tipple is Maraschino (cherry brandy).
