“The 1st room we were put in the TV was broken, the phone didn't work, the drains in the tub and sink didn't drain, the bathroom fan also didn't work. Also, the AC didn't cool the room and the outdoor temp was over 100 degrees, in room temp was 78 degrees. Changed rooms, in new room, bathroom fan didn't work, there was no toilet paper holder or toilet paper, also, AC didn't keep room cool. Even though front desk said to set it at 65 or 72 so that it wouldn't freeze up.”

“The light in the room was horrible. Couldn’t see to part my hair. The bulbs in the room couldn’t have been more than 40 watt. It’s an old hotel ,with one of the best locations in Sante Fe, with underground parking that needs to be undated. Turn ons in the shower were reversed. Sink dripped. Vanity area was tiny. Needs another mirror. Other than that, it was ok.”

“We loved everything about the room and property! Because we had a second floor room, and two knee replacements, it would’ve helped knowing there wasn’t an elevator. We managed, but it was surprising not to find an ice machine on the floor or in the building. I addressed it, and the staff was very accommodating and courteous to want to help. Breakfast on their garden patio was uplifting and started the day off nicely , along with a good strong coffee. Easy location to walk into plaza and shops.……

“I've stayed at El Rey many times, and I always enjoy it. The rooms are large and smartly decorated, there are many fun events that regularly occur on the property, and everything is well maintained. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful, although the bartenders at La Reina seem to favor local patrons and can sometimes be aloof. The La Reina Mesita foodtruck is a bit hit-or-miss, but is nonetheless convenient. Overall, it's a fun place with great amenities and is centrally-located.……

“Our King room with sitting area (2 rooms) was very disappointing. Bathroom needed maintenance, the floor was slippery. The ceiling AC was in the sitting area which included an old couch and the attached bedroom was one step up. No AC in the bedroom or fan so we had to lower the temp in the next room sitting area to make do. No TV in the sitting area. Breakfast was nice. Convenient washer, bit a rather dirty dryer. No ramp or easy way to bring your baggage up or down from about 10 steps up from……

“I didn’t visit the pool or the bar. The staff provided minimal effort. It is not a leisure resort by any means. It’s more of a motel feel. I had a suite and it needed to be updated in every possible way. It was very incredibly dark, even when all lights were on and the blinds open. I will not stay here again. I booked the hotel as it was away from The Plaza area, to have freedom of self parking. The location was fine.”
