“I stayed at this historic hotel for 3 nights back in July 2016 and absolutely loved it. The hotel was MUCH busier back then, completely full of guests. Now, in July 2026, I am sad to say that the hotel is not up to the same standard that it was 10 years ago. The entry had a musty smell, as did the 2nd floor hallway. “We have stayed at the Gin many times and this stay was very good. The property, while historic, is well maintained and clean. I was concerned by some reviews but found everything to be well cared for. Our accessible room was large, spotlessly clean, had high ceilings, heavy woodwork, and a modern updated bath. The staff was polite and helpful. Breakfast is minimal and self-serve but was adequate for our needs.”
