Hastings, Hastings BB15156 - Map
"Nice, cozy, personal hotel"
We had a fantastic stay at The Soco Hotel! This was or first time staying at a smaller resort. The upside was very personalized service, everyone knew your name and we were asked daily how we were enjoying our stay. If we needed anything, it was dealt with immediately. The only things we found a little challenging was there was no "night life" in the area and the bar closes at 10pm. I am not complaining, because it suited us perfectly for this vacation! The staff and food was fantastic. It is ideal for a quiet, relaxing vacation! Thanks to everyone at The Soco Hotel for making this such an enjoyable stay... I am sure we will see you again!

Little Arches Boutique Hotel Barbados

Enterprise Beach Road, Oistins - Map
"Beautiful Little Boutique Gem"
This is a lovely little gem of a hotel. Perfectly placed for the beautiful Miami Beach opposite, down a quiet little side road but close enough to stroll into Oistins. Very handy for the Friday Fish Fry (but the little stalls sell delicious fish dishes all week). Our room was large with a huge four poster, settee, table, chairs, coffee machine, kettle and a selection of tea and coffee. A big bathroom with lovely toiletries and an outside private patio with settee, table and sun loungers. Everything was spotless and well maintained. There aren't really any 'formal' restaurants in Oistins apart from Cafe Luna which, as luck would have it, is on an open terrace above the hotel where you can watch the amazing sunsets and gaze at the ocean over a rum punch. The menu is local Bajan together with international dishes and very good. This is also where you will take breakfast (pumpkin pancakes with banana cream totally addictive). We were here to watch our son play cricket against local schools. The locations were very rural and difficult to find but the reception staff poured over maps and Google Earth to help us find the tiny pitches. And this brings us to the hotel's greatest asset, the staff. Each and every one are so fantastic, going out of their way to make your holiday great, booking restaurants (of which there are many a very short cab ride away), arranging trips, suggestions, advice and just being generally so friendly it made the holiday very special. A gorgeous hotel.

"KATRINA (sp.) was stone cold FANTASTIC. "
We arrived tired and unhappy from a long trip. We took it out on poor Katrina. She listened and turned it around by being the perfect host. In short we were jerks and she was spot on great. Our room was special good and the cleanliness was remarkable. Throughout the week the room service continued to impress. On a few occasions we had special requests and unlike many other high quality places, we never waited more than a few minutes for our request to be handled. I can't say enough about Ocean 2 and the staff. We have traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean and have always chosen top notch accommodations. I can think of only one other that comes close and that was $2000 more for the week. Sunday night they feature a Jazz band in their restaurant. Yes I know what you are thinking, how good will a Jazz band be in the Caribbean where all they know is reggae. Well if you are NOT a Jazz fan this is STILL so good it's not to be missed. The band is phenomenal. The sax guy is wildly talented. The renditions of many old Jazz standards were too much fun... and I'm a Rock n Roll guy, but this was great stuff.

"Very comfortable apartment across road to beach."
All staff fantastic, went out of their way for us during our stay. Very relaxing atmosphere. 9 am housekeeping was a little early when just finishing breakfast so they arranged to come later. Didn't use the Spa, but the top pool was lovely early morning (6ft throughout) and lower pool suitable for children at shallow end. Lovely sandy beach, ideal for snorkelling, with a pontoon if you want deeper water. Water temp was 27deg C. Quite stony & rocky getting in the water in places so something for the feet might be useful. The Fish Pot is on the beach across the road from the apartment and part of the complex, so handy for a coffee on the beach - also had decking, beach loungers and umbrellas for shade. Food expensive, but no service charge, which was nice, as tips went straight to staff. Hotel slightly remote, which means have a car, take a taxi or bus. Too hot to walk far. We didn't have a car; age limitations and taxis not cheap (US dollars mainly), but buses BDS$2 (US$1) into Speightstown - some via Holetown to Bridgetown for same price; or change at Speightstown; unique & funny experience though, sometimes being 'packed in like sardines' and red-stripe minibuses can be hailed from roadside throughout Barbados. You need the correct money (bds$2) if using the blue State bus. Occasional road noise. Our experience is also that the island is one of the safest when walking about, even late at night. Have a small torch at night if walking to Moontown (no paths).

"Great all inclusive in centre of Holetown"
I am a little bit biased by the fact we spent our anniversary at Mango Bay and they treated us wonderfully - everyone was really kind and helpful - the gifts and thoughtful touches in our room were really appreciated. On a practical level you are right on the beach, but can walk around Holetown easily.

"Best Beach Hotel"
We always find the Hilton to be reliable for expectations of quality and service and this location did not disappoint. It is set on one the most beautiful beaches (Pebble Beach) that we saw during our stay. It is not in the middle of the "action" of Bridgetown or St Lawrence Gap so better for families and quieter getaways. This also means you need transportation to get to restaurants or shopping. Only the Careenage Bar seemed to be more reasonable for dinner prices and the quality was very good. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful and the HHonors Executive Lounge was a nice option for snacks and cocktails (although the crackers and veggies could use some variation). We never seemed to have too much trouble finding lounges at one of the two pools and the water temperature was perfect. The Bay side was my husbands fave beach spot for swimming. The room was comfortable although the King bed we had was very saggy. The balcony had a cement wall instead of railing so this blocks most of the view if you are sitting down! Request 5th floor OCEAN side for best view.

"Nice hotel away from it all!"
Overall a pleasing experience. Beautiful and spacious rooms, which are well equipped. Extensive grounds. The hotel was experiencing trouble with the A/C that was prolonged, but was able to enjoy relative comfort for the most part. Check-in staff, Cheryl and others were great! Nice place if you want to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle. Rental car is a necessity for the location. Would return again!
