"great location in Beacon Hill area of Boston. "
I had a great experience here. Very accommodating staff, clean hotel, relaxing lobby area. I stayed @ a different hotel one night & was very glad I moved to this one. I was able to check in a little early so I could start my sight seeing. Concierge were great with directions & suggestions of what to do. I stayed in one of the jail rooms & even with a big wedding Saturday night, I didn't hear a thing. Loved it & will stay there again when in Boston!!

"Great central location, very helpful staff"
I surprised my husband for an extended weekend in Boston and picked the Ames based on other's reviews and location. I can honestly say they delivered in every aspect. We arrived very early in the morning, around 6:45 am, via the red eye from southern California. Our room was obviously not yet ready. We checked our luggage, and were told we would be contacted when our room had been vacated, cleaned, and prepped for our stay. I was thrilled when we were called before 10:00 am that our room was ready. It was cleaned to my very high standards. The only thing I would say about the room itself was that the shower did not have a door by design, and the water leaked out all over the floor due to what appeared to be tiles slanted the wrong way. Not so much an issue, but we were sure to put extra towels outside the shower to catch the water. The bellhop was very nice and friendly, as was each and every front desk staff person we encountered. I actually chose this hotel over another due to the helpfulness and friendliness of the front desk staff when I called asking various questions prior to our booking. I have to say though, that Charles at the concierge desk, was superb! He gave us extraordinary tips for a great bar to go to before the Red Sox game, and worked very hard the next evening to get us a reservation at a high end restaurant on a Saturday night. Overall, great trip, great hotel, great staff! Would highly recommend to anyone traveling to Boston!

"Lovely old style hotel, central location"
We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The room, although small, was fine for a city break. Brilliant central location. Torrential rain on our first day and the hotel was able to supply us with umbrellas which was a life saver! Metro easy to use.....plenty of museums, restaurants and we loved the historical Freedom Trail, plus ferry tour.

"Decent Hotel"
Decent hotel, good location. Close to Boylston Street and the shops/restaurants. Room was nice and clean, but some annoying things for this small hotel was that the ice machine was only on one floor so you had to take the elevator, and it had horrible water pressure. So the great hotel shower I was expecting barely washed out the shampoo. Was expecting a bit more for the money. But overall it was good. I would stay there again.

"Seeing Boston without a car"
We had a problem with accessibility in the shower, didn't receive the room I ordered. However, Juan at the front desk helped a bad situation into something acceptable. Frank, the concierge, gets 5 stars. He was extremely helpful and spoke to my daughter (she's in a wheelchair) not to me (mom). If others would realize that just because someone is in a wheelchair doesn't mean that they can't talk. ( I feel better saying that - please pass it on.) The hotel had some eating options & a couple of malls, attached. We did everything on foot & subway, 4 days worth. There is quite a bit in this area.
