This was the nicest stay we had in New Zealand, and that's saying a lot. We stayed in the cottage, away from the main house...It was incredible-beautiful craftsmanship.... amazing attention to detail....extraordinary view....and a coziness that gave us the feeling for a fleeting two-night stay, that we lived fairly close to a charmed life.
But let me begin with our check-in. John and Scott supervised the building of their home and guest cottage high in the foothills near Moteuka. The main home, with rooms for guests–is a photograph straight out of a magazine-with sprawling, bright rooms, perfectly decorated, a breathtaking view of the vineyards and valley below and the mountain range in the distance. John and an adorable little terrier named Molly welcomed us. Wine was served and, after a lovely chat, we were shown to the cottage.
The cottage has the same amazing view with a table and chairs set up on the patio to enjoy it. There's a living room, kitchen and dining area, bathroom and bedroom. The kitchen is fully equipped. So is the glorious bathroom. The bed was fluffy and cozy. There was plenty of space to stretch out and make it ours. Have I mentioned that it was gorgeous? Like the main house, it was built of New Zealand pine (I think I have that correct). It's elegant and charming with thoughtful attention paid to every possible need and desire. John and Scott were wonderful hosts. And Expedia is telling me I've run out of space or I'd go on.
