I would have loved to give this hotel a perfect review, but there were two things that made it less than perfect.
First of all, it's an AMAZING hotel, beautiful amenities, outstanding staff, and just a great facility. Loved the pool, the grand staircase in the lobby is straight out of a movie, and everything was first-rate.
HOWEVER, I was surprised to see that the cost of my room here on Expedia did NOT include the 'resort fee' that tack onto it once you get there. It wasn't huge, but it was an additional $30 per night. Again, not a back-breaker, but when you book a room, you kinda figure that's what it'll cost you to stay there (besides taxes, etc). They say the fee covers "pool access, fitness room access, etc", which is something that's usually covered under your room fee. It was just a surprise that there was such an additional cost.
Secondly, the hotel was wonderfully quiet, the rooms comfortable and plush...BUT I stayed until Monday morning (most people probably leave on Sundays?), and I was awoken at 8am by the sound of noise, racket, and clatter in the rooms next to me, and in the halls. I looked out in the hall, to see that the construction crews had arrived to do touch-up work on paint in the rooms all up and down my hallway. 8am!!! I understand they want to do this work when the fewest people are around, and Mondays are the slowest days of the week, but for crying out loud, can you let people wake up and check out first? After 11am at least?
