Marriott Grand Hotel Flora

Via Vittorio Veneto 191, Rome 00187 - Map
This was our second stay at the Marriott Grand Flora and we were not disappointed. The staff made us feel welcome and that the hotel was our 'home'! The Dining Room staff always provided excellent service and met any special request. The doorman was always there to assist with securing our luggage, as well as getting us transportation as required. The hotel room exceeded our expectations, along with an excellent housekeeping staff!

"Great modern hotel off the beaten path"
I really enjoyed this hotel. However there are some disqualifiers if you're looking for certain things. If you want a traditional, classic hotel, something downtown and close to a few of the attractions (so you don't have to walk far), this is not for you. This is a more modern hotel off the beaten path, slightly difficult to get to. I enjoy walking, and the only attraction it's really close to is the Borghese gardens (in fact it's right next to it), so you will have to walk a little bit if you stay here. However there are bus stops close by, so you can hop on the bus and get to town without any trouble. Hotel room was clean, everything was modern and up to date. Not much of a view, and the room was average size, but that stuff doesn't bother me. As long as it's clean and comfortable (which it was), I'm cool with it. My only chief complaint is that my room was right next to the storage closet for the cleaning staff, and every time they opened and closed the door it would make a slamming sound, which was very loud, and they did that OFTEN. Of course they start doing this early in the morning and don't stop until after dinner. It didn't ruin the experience, but was intrusive enough to bother me each day while I was in the rom. Other than that, I would strongly recommend this hotel.

"fine hotel near to the heart of rome"
Only a one night stay, so important to be close to all the sights, restaurants and shops. And having walked everywhere (!) what better way to relax than in the hotel's spa followed by an excellent dinner in their restaurant.

Turner Hotel Rome

Via Nomentana 29, Rome 00161 - Map
"Would recommend. Great staff, fantastic location"
The turner hotel is located north from the main train station in Rome. It is easy to get to by bus from the train station ($1.50 euro - buy your ticket from a tabacconist shop or ticket machine at the large bus stop). The trip itself should only take you about 10mins. The reception area is very fancy and new, and the hotel staff are very attentive. The room we stayed in was clean and well kept, although old. But this is typical when travelling anywhere in Europe. As an Aussie traveller, as a tip to avoid disappointment, always deduct a star from any European hotel, and that will give you a better comparison to our Australian hotels. It's only natural as Australia has more space and the buildings are typically newer than our European counterparts. The buffet breakfast had hot food, cold meats, cereal and breads/sweet breads. It was quite comprehensive. Any guest can also make their way to the top floor (via lift to level 6) where you can enjoy a wine in the hotels private courtyard/garden. This was a great hotel, especially for the price we paid! There are also a multitude of great restaurants nearby. Take the time to have a look, as they are the real deal, with great local food and not the tourist trap restaurants in the city centre (i'm looking at you Trevi Fountain)

Pocket Guide: Rome Via Veneto 4 stars Business Hotels

Made famous by 'La Dolce Vita' film in 1960, the Via Veneto is going through a glamorous renaissance. Bars, restaurants, chic hotels and boutiques all vie for attention in the street which coined the expression 'paparazzo' – the surname of the photojournalist in the film. Nearby, the Spanish Steps are the place for lovers' trysts, shopping, and honing the Italian art of 'dolce far niente' – idling and people-watching.
