Another excellent stay at the Pestana Chelsea Bridge. Our hotel of choice when visiting London.

Poorly managed hotel

Posted Jul 31, 2017
Pros: Breakfasts, room layout, bathtub and shower
Cons: Use non allergic bedding, replace beds - shakey. Staff need to be more informed on city transport and coordinate and respond to guests accurately.
Location: Tennis at Battersea Park. Shopping on Kings Rd.
Pestana Hotel staff were polite but slow, forgetful and contradictory to the point of confusion with regard to lobby bar service, room service issues and booking transport. Lobby bar food service was very slow. Room service white wine came pink (!) and said it was because red wine was in the glass beforehand! Problems ordering taxis (to go to Victoria with luggage) being apparently "no problem" last minute, but then when it came time, we were told it would take an hour. So we Ubered, a stressful last minute change of plans. We were allergic to the duck down feather pillows, but it took 5 requests to get them to actually change them. The room fridge was empty, ie no mini bar, the coffee/tea station was very minimal. On the plus side breakfasts and dining staff were good. Location good across from Battersea Park, but it's a ways away from the Sloane Sq tube. Buses are the only way to go. This was the second time we stayed at Pestana, and we felt this time that they had "lost the plot" and we won't stay there again.

Battersea hotel

Posted Jul 25, 2017
Booked it because the location worked for us. Reception staff were efficient, but abrupt. Room was very nice. Bar staff were friendlier. Was looking forward to a bath in the morning only to find the bath tap didn't work. On reporting this on check out was met with unsympathetic response. Expensive too.

Location not so great

Posted Jun 30, 2017
Pros: Big room!!! Air Conditioning!!!
Cons: Lamps didn't work when I arrived. They had to call maintenance. The bathroom sink and shower never properly drained. One day the room wasn't cleaned
Location: Not much to do nearby. No subway station anywhere near it. The ferry doesn't stop at Chelsea Bridge.
The hotel room was gigantic and so was the bathroom (both a shower and a tub) but it took me an hour to get to any of the sights and if I left the hotel between 5-6 pm, it took 1.5-2 hours to get anywhere. I noticed that many of the people staying at the hotel were wearing suits, and I'm going to guess that they weren't sightseeing. I also noticed many taxis in the morning, and I was using public transportation. There's a lovely family style park across the street that is very big and closed off to cars. I saw joggers, dog walkers, bicyclists, families that had rented pedal go-carts, tennis players, cricket games and walkers. There's nothing historic or interesting about it, but if you have kids, it would be a great place to hang out.

Dear Mary, Thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback - it is only by hearing about your experience that we can improve. I'm sorry you were a little disappointed with your stay - I will follow up on your comments about the lamps and the incident where the room wasn't cleaned with each relevant department. I'm sorry that the location was not to your taste - during peak times, London's traffic can make it more difficult to reach central London. I apologise for the inconvenience. On a positive note, I am glad to see you were pleased with the size of your room. I hope you would consider returning to our hotel in future; it would be a pleasure to welcome you back next time.
