"A pleasant hotel in a good location for our purpos"
We had no problem with the hotel. On arrival we stood around in the lobby while the owner chatted to a tradesman who was in the building. It wouldn't have been long but it seemed a while before another member of staff came and welcomed us and checked us in. The owner later came out and helped us carry our luggage up to the room. The room was nice internally - well decorated and clean - though the lobby and corridor around the room could have done with some refurbishment and the view from the window wasn't up to much but it is an old coaching inn which is a couple of hundred years old so the view and the layout are pretty much set in stone [literally]. The room was also warm. The room next door was a cupboard with a freezer and cleaning stuff which was about as tidy as cupboards generally are. We know this because the door was left open during most of our stay. The food was EXCELLENT with a large dinner menu though we simply opted for sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection. Breakfast was also top quality with a large menu and well cooked food. It's a shame the coffee was only luke warm on both occasions and very tasteless. We use coffee beans at home so that might be why we found the hotel coffee insipid. We certainly wouldn't go there just for morning or afternoon coffee on the basis of our breakfast experience. But we'd stress that all other dining aspects were EXCELLENT and the hotel proprietor, who served our breakfast, was extremely helpful, efficient and pleasant

"Lovely to be back again !"
Hilton Craigendarroch is one of our most favourite places in the whole world, and we jumped at the chance of staying in one of the new timeshare suites in the hotel, which they have turned their previous bedrooms into. However, there is not enough "characters" in this box to allow me to explain all that was wrong for us in the suite. Although it looked very beautiful and very modern and beautifully kept, lets just say that it turned out to be an "ergonomic" nightmare for us both. It would suit a very young couple with no spinal or muscle problems, or ageing problems, but certainly it was not suitable for a couple in their sixties, who are now rather stiff with ageing !!! There was certainly a lot wrong for us both in that room, but it would take too many "characters" as explained, to elucidate about here. Lets just say that we wont be buying a suite a t Craigendarroch any time soon ! We have owned a lodge at Craigendarroch for over 30 years now, which is just fantastic and we love it to bits, bit we wont be buying the suites in the hotel anytime soon, for sure ! We think it has been designed really badly and has not been given a great deal of thought about comfort, and that includes the bathroom ! Sorry Craigendarroch - you are our most favourite place to holiday at, but think you have made a huge error here !

" A Mannerly house"
Beautiful, well appointed, almost castle like inside. Service was good. We ate an early dinner in the bar as we hadn't made a reservation for the dining room and the available seating were later than we wanted. We were expecting bar food. What we were able to get was top notch steaks. The onion rings were the best I've had: super crispy fried in goose fat. The atmosphere was cozy. We

Very impressed with the place, it is an old building and the hotel is under new management. The new owners are gradually getting things improved, but as for the stay, it was great and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would certainly stay there again and take my friends, a really nice experience
