Nice and convenient

Room and bathroom was clean. Bed very comfortable Hotel staff was amazing. (David and Katy if I’m not mistaken) Only downside was parking.

Good Hotel

I would recommend. Clean, comfortable bed. Coffee, breakfast sufficient, There's also a Denny's next door.

Old School

Pros: cleanliness
This is one of the older hotels in Abilene and would call it "old school" compared to all the new hotels now available. However, it was clean and offered a free breakfast at a much lower price than the newer hotels which are getting over priced,....

Shower alternated between scalding and ice cold

The hotel is a older one with outside entrances. The room was a nice size and seemed clean. The bed was a little lumpy but there were plenty of pillows (plus we brought out own. The breakfast was a little skimpy (waffles, muffins, cereal and bananas and canned fruit cocktail, yogurt) but the coffee was good. I tried to get a coke twice from a machine and it didn't take a credit card but it wouldn't give me a coke for my two dollar bills either and when I pushed the button for a refund, it kept .50 once and .25 another time. Finally I went to the machine downstairs and got a coke ok. I didn't take a shower until the second morning we were there and while the water pressure was good, it kept alternating between absolutely scalding hot water and ice cold water. I was afraid I would never get a balance of hot water and cold water that held for long enough for me to rinse my hair. The toilet was running continuously so I don't know if that had something to do with it. At least the towels were nice.

Horrible Experience

We made a reservation and paid over 2 months ago because our the usual hotel we stay at was booked. We reserves a king non smoking room and upon arrival the hotel front desk woman rudely said All we have is a double smoking room. Really??? I asked why they double booked our room and gave it away. She said they didn’t and that they had a room for us. Again REALLY?? Your kidding right? She never apologized and seemed that I was an inconvenience to her. I could go on and on believe me. Its absolutely surprising that they are still in business. The place was filthy. It was a horrible experience and will never again even think about staying with them. I called our usual hotel and begged and they said that this was our lucky day that they had just had a cancellation and took care of us right away!! I told them about all of this and they said that they hear this kind of thing about them all of the time.

When the staff were informed on the mildew issue in the shower it was of little concern. This is a health issue.

I wouldn't stay here again

We chose this hotel because of the price, thinking that La Quinta was a reputable brand. The room itself was ok but the bathtub looked like it needed a deep scrubbing. The shower head needed to be replaced and there was about a centimeter difference when adjusting the temperature between scalding and freezing. Then we discovered the light switch also controlled the TV outlet which was annoying but on par with everything else. Breakfast consisted of either waffles, cold cereal or oatmeal, bananas, cold boiled eggs, yogurt or stale pastries/toast. Even though it was cheap, this isn't somewhere I'd pick again.

Comfortable stay

Just needed a place to rest for the night, as we were traveling through. Only problem was taking a shower.. The water went from feeling fine to super hot, then freezing cold. Told the front desk and they put it in for maintenance.
