The view of the Mosque from the hotel is amazingPosted Nov 24, 2015
most hotel staffs are nice. They explained how to travel around Abu Dhabi. They asked them to book le cafe in Emirates palace and they did smoothly. I appreciate it. The view of the mosque from the hotel is wonderful. when I check out I felt a bit disconfort. there are many staff near reception, but only one woman was in charge of checking out and a chinese family was just checking out. we waited next to the family for a while. then another staff came to us and said ‘are you waiting? I thought you are together with that family’ It's so rude and she didn't apologize that she kept us waiting. It was nice hotel, but I'm dissapointed at the end.

Alles war in Ordnung und man wurde richtig verwöhnt; Störend war der Lärm, vor allem von den Jetski

Highly recommend the upgrade to Horizon ClubPosted Nov 2, 2015
Pros: On the beach, good pool and nice view to Grand Mosque the other side of the estuary.
Location was great with easy access from airport and just 10 min taxi to Abu Dhabi Golf Club, and best of all right next to a large Souk with approx 6 restaurants ... we used 3 of them and would recommend them all.

Winter sunPosted Oct 21, 2015
Cons: Not that I can think of.
Location: Location was quite central only 15 mins from airport even tho you are not actually on the beach as such as your on the grand canal it still was good.
We stayed at the shangri la for 10 days we wanted to escape the dull climate of London. Well all I can say is that I did not want to come home the long list of good things to write about will go on forever so I'll start with this, the hotel as soon as we walked out of our transfer was like we felt like royalty they walked us through the door and was greeted by a gentleman in traditional clothing with tea as soon as we saw this we knew we was in for a treat and it didn't stop there, check in was smooth a lady called honey walked us up to our room and coz we had a very long day with the flight we knew we was very tired, but then we walked into our room and one word omg it was fabulous the size was good the balcony was just as big the little details was amazing we stayed on the 4th floor in the horizon club we overlooked the beach to the grand mosque it was awesome. Then there was the staff no words can describe how incredibly friendly and accommodating they were the breakfast team at Sofra Bld and the recreational team on the beach were superb special thanks to rosalie, Thor, and sushalie they were so nice nothing was ever too much trouble, the food was great so much choice the souk at the hotel was great too there's every thing you could need on the site, the whole atmosphere at the shangri la was super amazing the weather was sometimes to hot tho but that's nothing as you can sit under the shade and just relax, I will recommend anyone to go to this hotel it was top marks......

Good location but showing signs of losing pacePosted Oct 12, 2015
Pros: Bord Eau restaurant and Horizon Club rooms, and the staff.
Cons: The pool area needs work
Location: Good central location, for the mangroves, the city, the Grand Mosque and the main airport
A great hotel, only really let down by its pool area which compared to other 5 star hotels, is small. Normally there are numerous areas to have a bed but still be close by the pool, which are larger and free form. This pool is a reasonable size rectangle with the beds either side. It just been patrons are on top of each other. The pool area overlooks the water which is plagued by locals on their stupid jet ski's..... Saying that the staff are very good by the pool and in all restaurants (except Sofra Bld, but that is a buffet so a bit like a conveyor belt canteen...). The view from our room was overlooking the Grand Mosque. Truly beautiful although traffic noise across the adjacent bridge is annoying. All of the restaurants are very good but Bord Eau stands out for its service and quality. Pricy but you get what you pay for, and here you do. We had a Horizon Premium Room. Very big, with separate dressing table/desk and a dressing area. Access to the Horizon Lounge comes with the room. Great for early evening drinks, though the room is a bit small. There is a family room too so everyone seems content. Breakfast, though limited, is a quiet oasis in the morning. All in all a great hotel but it is starting to show its age a bit. The staff are doing a great job. Join Golden Circle!

Excellent Scenary of Grand MosquePosted Sep 26, 2015
Pros: Luxuary resort feeling
Cons: Boat service on cannal is out of the service.
From each room, we can enjoy excellet scenary of Grand Mosque, and infinity pool is also good. Especially, sunset time is beautiful to enjoy the scenary. I went to Pearls & Caviar, spanish restaurant, and enjoyed delicious foods in very cool and luxuary atmospher.

Incredible StayPosted Aug 28, 2015
Cons: cheaper breakfast but it's a five star lol (by the way breakfast is really good)l
Location: Location is a bit far but taxis are cheap. There are very nice lounges and bar that are very close by. The hotel staff drove us there.
This hotel was absolutely beautiful! The staff were amazing - basically perfect. The service was perfect. FIVE STAR SERVICE! more than that actually. The pools are beautiful and the view is just amazing. I would definitely come back to this hotel I loved everything about it.

Absolutely perfect for my first visit to Abu DhabiPosted Aug 17, 2015
Pros: Authentic architecture, friendly staff, every amenity you could want.
Location: Across the canal from the Grand Mosque. Private beach. Souk attached to the hotel for souvenir and grocery shopping. Short drive to the airport.
The staff was amazing. I arrived exhausted at 10:00 pm, and the welcomed me to sit at the reception desk for check in. They upgraded me to a premier room for free, offered me dates and a beverage, and personally walked me to the room to explain all its features. The room was well air conditioned, spacious, spotless, quiet, with lovely amenities. The closet was bigger than my closet at home. There was free bottled water and fresh fruit in the room, and a well-stocked mini bar. There were slippers by my bed and I swam a few laps in the giant bathtub! There was even a personalized welcome message for me on the TV. I was only there 29 hours, but every staff member called me by name, and made sure I had everything I needed during my short stay. They arranged a car and driver for me for a few hours to see the sights. The hotel grounds are beautiful! I hope to return one day for a longer stay!!
