This is Ghana. Or rather, this is one part of Ghana. Point is, you really need to adjust your expectations.
Comparing this to a high end American or European hotel will leave you disappointed, but not by too much.
I found this hotel very likable. The staff was friendly and reasonably attentive. Samuel, the bartender, was my best friend (in a positive way, not a "please give me more money way"!). He was really great.
I forget the owner's name, but he was nice too. I was comfortable there. I liked my room, I found the internet quite decent (and apparently that's a big deal in Ghana). I did have an ant problem at first, but they solved that for me the next day.
I can't speak for what other Accra hotels are like, but I can say that I would not hesitate to stay at Midindi again. In a way, I miss my nights having very good dinners up in the bar there.
Speaking of food, the food cooked at Midindi is incredibly good. It can be VERY spicy, but it is really really good! In the two weeks I was there, I only at elsewhere once.
