Great location very close to the ferry so you can walk to the hotel. The private terrace of a top floor room is spacious and a nice place to sit with a view of the ocean. The buffet breakfast, included in my rate, was really impressive.

This hotel is very close to the port, which makes it extremely convenient especially if you are only on the island for a day or two. This was my first visit to Stromboli and I was only there for 2 nights. I will say I wish I had allocated more time to Stromboli, but I would not stay at this hotel again. As convenient as it is, it is also noisy and pretty basic. It was clean enough and the room was large with an nice terrace and functioning air conditioning. The breakfast, despite other reviewers claims, was the worst food I had my entire month in Sicily. Think convention center food. The same goes for the restaurant food at street level- the appertivo bites were the only plates I couldn't eat during my trip. Look to Stromboli Village for lodging options. You can easily get a lift to the port in a taxi and you'll be in a quieter area closer to the activity of the volcano.

We are sorry to hear that you did not like the rich breakfast buffet. We offer a variety of sweet and savory home-made products that our guests really like. Our structure has a central position, close to the beach and the sea, facing the main promenade and certainly a more touristic street than more distant and isolated areas.Most of our guests choose us for our strategic position, close to the marina, the ticket offices for the trekking excursion or the boat trip to the sciara del fuoco.

Great hotel near to port
This was our second time staying here, and it was again very nice. Extremely close to the port where the ferry drops off. Great breakfast selection. Friendly staff. Large spacious room. Will continue to go back and stay here.

Property was ultra convenient to ferry terminal. You can wheel bags up to door in minutes. Staff member on morning shift was very friendly and helpful. Even ran down the ferry wharf to pass on my hat I left behind on check out ! Breakfast buffet is very good. Cons: Rooms are a bit basic/no frills, but clean. No staff on in the evening to help.

Great friendly service with an amazing breakfast.
Greeting was very friendly and they could speak English well. They helped book a island tour when outside companies said they were all booked, so thank you. Hotel also did communicate well via whatsapp leading up to our stay. Breakfast is very european style and was amazing, lots of amazing food to chose from.

Service excellent. Room old but nice. Cold the first night until learnt how to use air con for heat. Lovely view but maybe a bit noisy for some. Bring a kettle and buy water if you British as no facility’s after 6 pm and local water fishy tasting. Don’t go to observatory restaurant, overpriced and tried to charge me double the menu prices

disappointing view
The hotel itself was nice, the staff friendly and helpful. But the surrounding awful! Loud street in front, bad view out of the (nice) room on old boats and other port equipment, the beach which is shown on the prospect is NOT in front of the hotel but on the other side of the port - dissapointing!

In the morning you can often see or hear fishermen arriving from the sea with fresh fish. Unfortunately, at the end of October, the fishing boats are put on the beach. The hotel is located just on front of the sea, 2 minutes walking from the boat, convenient if you don’t want to walk with your bags. good breakfast and really spacious rooms. You can walk from there to the centre of town.

We have been planning our trip to hike the volcano for over 1 year. The hotel booked us spots on a group hike for €28 and told us that it started at 19:00. They wrote 19:00 in an email and two concierge attendants told us verbally 19:00. When we arrived at the point of departure, Stefania, the owner of Stromboli Adventure (the trekking company the hotel booked), told us that the group left an hour ago and that group hikes always leave at 18:00 and NEVER 19:00. In fact, all trekking companies lead group tours starting at 18:00. The only other option was a private guide which was €500. Stefania called the hotel and gave them a discounted rate of €400 if they would pay for it since our entire trip was planned around this hike. The hotel would not pay for anything. They said it was not their problem. We decided to pay for the private guide (which was inexorably more expensive than the €28 group hike) since we were leaving the next day. There was no accountability on Ossidiana’s part. I even called and asked them to help me with a dinner reservation and they said that THAT was my responsibility and that there was nothing they could do-they couldn’t even make a simple phone call on behalf of their guests! All in all, an exceptionally bad experience with sub-human customer service. We did not even receive an apology. We have everything in writing and they still offered nothing for retribution. Terrible experience would not recommend.

Make sure you get the type of room you paid for
The hotel was good, clean, and well located. But I have downgraded the service because when we arrived, they tried to put the three of us (2 adults and 8 year old child) in an adapted 2 bedroom room when we had paid for a triple. After some discussion where they tried charging us 20 euros per night extra, they put us in a proper triple room for no extra cost (we had already paid for a triple room). Apart from this initial mishap, everything was great.

Excellent Location and Local Area - That's It
This hotel has a very convenient location. You literally step off of the ferry, walk two minutes to the right and you're there! However, that's pretty much the only good thing about this place. They have a not so obvious sign in the bathroom saying "Water is precious on the island. Don't drink the tap water!" in small print and then they charge you for the water bottles in the "mini-bar" (mini-fridge on the floor) and don't tell you the price. By double bed they mean two twins pushed together into a weird wooden frame with hidden corners that are easy to stub your toe on. On the positive, the staff are really nice and are willing to help in any way. And the local area is excellent. It is only a 7 minute walk to the main square. We especially loved the nearby bar-restaurant Il Malandrino which was perfect for breakfast, lunch, freshly squeezed orange juice, and the owner (Angelo) was more than willing to let us work at his tables.

Perfect Stay
Lovely hotel, clean and comfortable. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Nice breakfast room with a good range of cereals, cakes, fruit, egg, bacon and sausages, juice and various coffees. Close to ferry terminal, right on the beach with the volcano in the background, free wi if, nice bar area and outside seating. Can’t really fault in anyway, we really enjoyed our stay.

A decent place, especially on a volcano!
This place was fine, nothing exceptional, apart from the location, but everything went smoothly. Friendly English speaking staff and a very short walk from the boat. There's not a lot of choice here so it's good to see that their standards are kept up. The room was of a good size with a view over the sea. We didn't spend much time in it though as we were exploring the place. There's not that much to see, apart from an active volcano! With hindsight we should have stayed an extra night and day, but we're all blessed with that 20/20 aren't we? The hotel is decent value and came with a decent buffet style breakfast. Decent wifi and a coffee on arrival. No complaints at all.

Good hotel at the port.
The hotel is in a great location, right at the port. An easy walk into town. We had a nice seaview room with a large balcony. Comefortable bed and very clean. I loved the funky color of the hotel and rooms, bright and cheerful. Can be a bit noisy early in the morning. Would definately stay here again.

Almost very good. Not there yet. 3.7 is fair.
Difficult one to review. Almost very good but despite this being Stromboli not the Maldives I can't turn a blind eye... When I was checking in, the receptionist suddenly started dealing with a guest who wanted to pay his bill because he was leaving in the morning, and I don't know why he suddenly became more important. When I was paying my bill, the other receptionist was having an argument on the phone behind the desk...keep this from the guests! I can't fault the cleanliness of the room and the bathroom was modern. But the aircon started leaking at midnight. Aircon off (lucky it's October, I thought). Towels on floor. The leak became a trickle them a drip and stopped in 15 minutes so I left it until the morning. When I got back to the hotel after lunch I was assured it was fixed. Not so. A persistent drip meant I could have aircon if I could put up with the drip drip drip onto a towel. Now about the double bed: it was two singles pushed together. Nothing uncommon about this of course, unfortunately. These single beds had wooden frames though so there was a gap of about 7cm between the mattresses. The solution...fill the gap with cushions neither quite the same height or firmness as the mattresses. Free wifi? Yes if you stand right by the door. Not if you move to the desk or the bed. And so to the great stuff: perfectly positioned for the harbour; excellent breakfast; the best room safe I've seen (seriously!); and of course an active vulcano.

Excellent Location close to ferry and tours
We stayed overnight at this hotel with several other couples. This hotel is very convenient to the harbor and to the ferry. All of our rooms faced the sea which was very beautiful. The hotel is a nice place to stay for a night or two, but probably wouldn't be a good fit for a romantic stay. Make sure you closely review your bill when you check out, because one of the couples in our group was charged for cappuccinos that we were told were "on the house" when we first arrived at the hotel early in the morning.

Quick efficient check in. Room 15 has a massive private terrace overlooking the sea/port area. Could feel springs in the mattress so could be better. Good size bathroom with everything in good condition. Breakfast was not included in our booking but was available for 7.50 euro's, was good value for money. Excellent location for the ferry. Helpful staff. Would recommend.

Great Home-base for Visiting Stromboli
Great spot to stop for a quick overnight visit to the Stromboli volcano. The staff was lovely and the room was spacious, ours having a large balcony overlooking the sea. Pack a flashlight and grab a golf cart taxi from the hotel (10 Euros) which takes you to the end of the road where you can access the trail to hike up the mountain to the observatory (it takes about 30 - 45 minutes). Once there, have a bite to eat and a glass of wine on the terrace which overlooks the eruptions. Great outing!

Under the volcano
Two nights on Stromboli is pretty magical. This is probably the best hotel on the island. It is very old fashioned looking in many ways, but totally charming.Could use an elevator?? Breakfast was very good. Right near the port. Easy to get to from the ferries. Lots of restaurants close and a cafe in the building. All in all, a nice place. I would go back.

Nice hotel close to the port
We stayed at Hotel Ossidiana for one night to trek Stromboli. The hotel is steps away from the port for easy access to the ferry. Staff were all very pleasant and the hotel offers a welcome drink. While the room was small and basic, it was clean and did have a stellar view of the volcano. After a late night trekking followed by a very early ferry, I was glad to be just a 1 minute walk from the ferry.

No loud belly-roars!
Chosen because of location, in sight as you enter the port and less than a 2 minute walk from jetty, whereas I can see that other hotels might be harder to find. Hotel more than adequate for a one-night stay to see the vulcano. Don't expect the eruptions as shown in the hotel photo. We climbed to the viewpoint on the sciara del fuoco that only a fit person should try. Contrary to what lonely planet states we were not rewarded with loud belly-roars (from the volcano not me) or the sight of any eruption or molton rock crashing down the lava-blackened mountain. It is a spectacular sight nonetheless. Leave plenty of time before dusk for the descent. Even with a torch it is a difficult one. With benefit of hindsight we should have done the guided hike to the crater, you can hire boots, helmets etc. However, we were informed by a fellow traveller that even with this more difficult climb there was no rumbling or eruption at the top just the occasional bubbling. Need to come back when the crater has filled up a bit!

Ideal Hotel for ferry .
Hotel is ideal as it it is so close to everything that you are going to do on the island ie boat trips and treking up the volcano.If you do book a room i suggest you get a room facing the volcano as the front rooms are exposed to all the noise ie small engined vehicles similiar to tuck tucks in the far east,quite noisy passing back and forth.
