Overall I enjoyed the stay. But: The staff at night before their shift ended tended to get a bit lazy on their service. Making mistakes with my dinner. I specifically ordered food.. and request no meat or eggs.. no pork, beef or chicken. I also said vegetables and seafood are ok. The staff repeated it and everything was fine until they brought me my delicious looking order with one plate having chicken and beef on the plate. Ali most ruined my appetite. I gave them a chance to fix that one dish. Repeating the seafood and vegetables are ok but no other meats. The apologized , left, came back when my all my other dishes were almost finished and this time there was no beef but the chicken was still there .. they offered to take it back and apologized once again. Being that the Shangri la was a lovely place and all the staff had been great earlier in the day, we decided to have a little more patience and allow them to rectify the situation. But they took so long that we decided to totally cancel that meal. While all this was happening our night butler from the treehouse villa was trying to prepare our jacuzzi with fresh wam water when she reported that the hot water wasn't working and the would need to call in the engineer to fix this problem. By the time we finished our meal and we're ready to get cozy and take a shower.. the engineer realized the hot water problem was a bigger problem then they thought so it couldn't be fixed that night. must check before admitting customers

It truly is Paradise

From the moment we were greeted at the airport until being escorted back following our stay, everything and everyone was absolutely fabulous. Professional, polite and personal is how I can describe the entire staff. Will definitely return and plan to stay longer.

Great staff. Overall amazing, only downside was the trip ended. Nice location, great service. Good decent, excellent bar program, and the beach/pool facility was great.............

Best hotel ever!

Most amazing hotel we have stayed at in so many ways. We stayed in the Tree House Villa (our favourite) for 2 nights and moved to the 2 bedroom pool villa for 2 nights. The rooms had the wow factor. The staff and service was incredible and they will bend over backwards to help. We had our own butlers who we could contact anywhere in the vast resort via provided mobile phones and the mini bar was free! However, there was a negative. We spent a lot of money full price on massages and dinners. On moving to another hotel in Boracay, we were given a Boracay VIP card for free with 15% off massages and dinners. Felt we should have been offered it having spent so much money on the rooms. Queried this with Shangri La and they gave me a refund on the dinners but not massages.

Just skip this place.

I was very disappointed by the way the staff handled a situation about my arrival dated. This is not the way a 5 star hotel should handle world travelers used to stay at top hotels around the world.

Wonderful tropical getaway

The resort was just what we were hoping for. Right from the welcome at the airport and private boat transfer to the resort through to the facilities and quality of food, it was all excellent. The private beaches, pool and spa were all beautiful and the staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. We did several activities but also made the most of the serenity of the location. We would definitely come back.

Disappointment

Pros: beach & grounds, friendly staff
Cons: Private dinning options could cater for any number, not just in multiples of 2
Location: offsite facilities are limited and being developed
The resort grounds and beach are excellent. The initial suite on level one was dark and had a limited sea veiw, rather a garden view. On day two we asked to move to a higher level suite and this was a great improvement, being bright and having a full sea/ocean view. Breakfast is served in the one location serving the same food options on a daily basis. Limited evening entertainment with few daytime onsite options. As a family of 3 adults, having booked two rooms the staff seemed unable to adapt the private dinning options from those avaiable for 2 or 4 to meet our requirement for 3 adults

Great place for vocation

Speed boat to nearby airport , private beach and excellent service. Fantastic Italian food at Rima restaurant. And great value for international buffet breakfast.

A Week in Paradise

Pros: There isn't much not to like about this hotel. Great views, secluded location, amazing rooms and service, the breakfast buffet. Paradise really.
Cons: Pretty much everything is great. Sometimes the room service is a little slow though. Not exactly a huge problem.
Location: The location is great for 2 reasons. First, the hotel is secluded and has its own private beach. Second, the shuttle van can get to the action quickly
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a week as we did last year. We liked the hotel so much, we decided to take a "2nd honeymoon" a year later. This hotel has just about everything you could want in a tropical luxury resort. A perfect location away from all the hustle, bustle and dirtiness of the main strip on the island. A private beach that is calm and relaxing, and has hotel staff there to serve you. An infinity salt water pool that is refreshing and has a great view. Big clean rooms with all the amenities you could ask for. A breakfast buffet that serves a wide variety of local and foreign dishes that are fresh, delicious and fulfilling. Hotel staff that are friendly, curteous and willing to help you at any time. And a resort that is built into the surrounding landscape to make it feel as though it fits seamlessly into nature. What more could anyone ask for in a hotel.

Amazing staff, great service

This is the type of resort where you dont need to leave during your stay. They provide abdloutely everything from a huge kids area, entertainment center,medical center, few shops, number of great restaurants covering a wide selection of cuisines. The staff were the best thing, you will find them everywhere greeting you and ready to serve you. Dont even think of spending your money somewhere else, worth the extra money.
