Very poor value

Posted Feb 17, 2018
Pros: The staff were helpful and friendly
Cons: Relaxing areas to sit. A courtesy room to shower and change. Beyond a certain level, say 66% occupancy, a group should have to book all the rooms.
We expected a relaxed week in a high end hotel. We got a tired, badly lit room with no outside space. The hotel has no comfortable seating space apart from the reception area which nobody used, and the restaurant which was usually set for meals. Before we booked, we phoned to try to get the deal given on their website - nothing doing. We did not realise until we arrived, and spoke to a fellow guest, that 36 of the 45 rooms had been booked by a regular group from St Louis. The ones we spoke to were good company but we felt overwhelmed and marginalised. We would have eaten more in the hotel but the noise level was too intrusive. This fellow guest was moving on to avoid the group! We think we should have been warned when we phoned. Our last day was difficult. We had a 20.35hrs overnight flight from Cancun and had to leave our room at 13.00hrs. The hotel provides nowhere to leave luggage, no secure place for cash, cards, tickets and passports. We used the locked luggage area in the next door hotel. There is no area to shower or change on site. We had to take s shuttle to the spa for a shower. Our valuables remained unsecured as we were not allowed lockable lockers. On the plus side the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good but not exceptional. We might return if we could get a better deal, and avoid large group bookings. For high end prices this is not a high end hotel. I emailed these comments to the hotel manager -disappointingly, no reply after 3 weeks.

Nice Au Naturel Hotel

Posted Dec 17, 2017
Pros: Staff and friendliness of all guests.
Cons: Need to warm up the pool, it was too cold for some people to enjoy.
Location: Only left resort for a wonderful snorkeling trip
Fantastic staff that made the stay very enjoyable. First clothing optional stay for me and am absolutely going back.

Dear Anonymous thank you for sharing your feedback with us about your recent stay at our hotel. It is nice to know that you have had a relaxing and memorable stay and that the service rendered by our staff members was of great quality; it is our hard working and dedicated staff that makes a difference in the service. We appreciate the suggestions about the pool temperature as we always want to make perfections; however please note that the current season brings also cold winds and temperatures that may influent the pool temperature. However, we are looking forward to welcome you once again at our hotel.

Shoes only & something for beyond the doors!!

Excellant service and very clean well maintained property. Great that you can use the restaurants and bars of the two hotels eitherside as well. Rooms well maintained each day and the full bottles of spirits in the room was good. Everything restocked well each day. Staff very welcoming, and how they remember everyones first name is amazing. Food whilst not having an extensive selection was good. What we liked at breakfast was there wasnt lots of precooked food sitting around, with eggs cooked freshly for you, and refilling of hot plates getting fresh topups. Beach could have been a little better, but you cannot change nature.

Our new favorite place

Posted Aug 13, 2017
We spent a week at a Hidden Beach Resort and could not have enjoyed it more. We stayed in a swim up suite but I imagine any room would have been fine. The resort is so small that you are never far from a cup of coffe in the morning or a cold beverage during the days and evenings. Guest have reciprocal privileges at the large resorts next door but other than shopping for souvenirs, there is really no reason to leave. There are several restaurants right outside the main gate but the food at Hidden Beach is so good (breakfast, lunch and dinner) that you never really need to leave. We have been to Couples San Souci 7-8 times and always have loved Sunset Beach. I can only hope that none of those folks try HBR because they might never go back to Jamaica. We always sty in A Block at CSS I I usually get up at the crack of dawn to get a palapa on SSB it we had a beach bed everyday at HBR and never even went to reserve it till after breakfast and coffee. Now what really makes this place is the service and the people. It is 5-star all the way. Now we have been to several resorts with beach service but Esperanza (sp ?) will not keep you waiting 20-30 minutes like at other resorts. The place is so small it's hard not to get to know the people workings there or the other guest. We spent a great deal of time on the beach beds relaxing and a good bit of time at the pool meeting and talking with others.

Best vacation ever!

Posted Jun 25, 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: Stellar staff and service. +++ Excellent food. +++ Perfect setting for relaxing getaway for two.
Cons: Better beach but this was more than compensated for by everything else about our stay. Plans are in works to improve this.
Location: Beautiful location! Access to two neighboring resorts with beach, restaurants, and shops. Tulum Ruins and Playa del Carmen short ride away.
Excellent service from moment of arrival. Staff catered to every need. Delicious food and drinks. Beautiful resort. Perfect setting. Great access to more amenities at adjacent resorts. All inclusive - everything we could need or want. Can't wait to go back.

Great hotel, had the swim up and it was amazing!

Posted Jun 13, 2017
2nd time we have been there! Love the small atmosphere and the staff remembered us from last year! Had the swim up and loved the fast access to beach and pool. Even the other guests were friendly and approachable, it was like meeting friends for a week vacation. Would go back again and again!

The beach is truly hidden

Posted Apr 17, 2017
Pros: Staff
Cons: beach
Location: Rumor that the resort will move down the coast, where beachfront is available.
A wonderful staff, activities, food and booze, appropriate rooms but no beach. If this was advertised as a poolside club near the ocean my expectations would have been met but not as a beach resort.

Excellent Caribbean Experience

Posted Nov 1, 2016 on Orbitz
Pros: The staff was excellent.
Cons: Slick Pavement - Although the hotel had walking mats in strategic locations, the paved areas were extremely slick.
The facility is an older facility, but the hotel was very clean and very accommodating. The staff was outstanding and never made you feel self conscious. and always helpful, and willing to go out of the way way to assist. We had gone to "Clothing Optional"resorts before, but this was our first trip to an "au naturel" resort. This was the second part of a two resort trip, and by the end of the week we didn't want to leave! The guests (mostly returning guests) made you feel comfortable and welcome. The resort is a perfect size (~48 rooms). All the rooms are close to the beach, the swim up rooms provide a patio, while the upstairs have no patio (maybe 6 rooms have open patio), but all are located close to the beach. We stayed upstairs and were happy. Demographics were varied, but would say mostly 50+. The beach is great for sunbathing, but NOT for swimming. A rocky stretch of beach (take water shoes if you want to wade/swim. Note: Paved areas are extremely slick when wet.
