One stop shop, but patience is required

The Danat Al Ain is a nice hotel that has everything one might need for a few days stay. The grounds and the pools are nice, but a bit dated. We were there on a holiday weekend. It was crowded. There were not enough chairs around the pool, so we sat in the water at the pool bar most of the day. The service is very nice and friendly. My Expedia reservation said "Pool View". The room was not a pool view room and when I questioned it, they seemed to know nothing about that; even when I showed them the reservation on my app. The check-in and check-out process takes much longer at this hotel than I've ever seen. The front desk people are all very polite, but there is a lot of walking back and forth from the office to the desk. I'm not sure why. I reserved the second night though the hotel, itself. For some reason, I had to come right away to re-reserve it. When I got to the desk there were three lines. I don't understand why it had to be that minute? They already knew I was staying.The hotel is somewhat out of the way and righ not the Oman border, but you won't notive once inside the resort. Overall, the nice people, the three bars and the variety of restaurant choices are nice. As an added bonus, there is a liquor store on the property, if you're staying for a while.

Nice hotel for Al Ain. Needs some upgrades, but staff were great. Pillows were not good! Otherwise the room was clean.

Very convenient. My third time staying here. When I need a hotel in Al Ain, I stay here.

Weekend Disaster

Pros: Centrally located in Al Ain
Cons: The service levels are pathetic . Please down grade from VIP+ to 2 Star hotel .
Location: Jabal Hafeeth Mountain , Al Ain Oasis , Ai Ain Palace Museum , Al Ain Historical Museum , Al Ain town Center Shopping
I booked this hotel based on the Expedia recommendation of a VIP+ hotel . What I got was a 2 Star experience . I has reserved the room with the option of Pay At Hotel . However , on the morning I was supposed to check in , the entire amount was charged to my Credit Card without checking if I intended to check in ! While booking I was entitled to a 10% Discount by Expedia. The 10% discount was not applied. On check -in I was informed that I have a AED 100 voucher that I must spend on the 1st Day of my stay. However , on checkout I discovered I did not get the credit as I had not used hotel services on the 1st day although we had dinner at the Oasis restaurant . Oasis restaurant though on the hotel grounds is not considered part of the hotel ! Why wasn't i informed at check in? Oasis restaurant experience was also disaster. We had requested for a baby cot for the room on check -in but received it only at 11pm at night after shouting at Reception , Housekeeping & guest services about the delay . The room assigned to us #515 had a bright spotlight aimed straight into the room rendering keeping the curtains open or sitting in the balcony useless . The hotel does not have all the facilities as advertised , it is a loosely knit congregation of restaurants and services .So you do not get a seamless experience in the hotel . Everything has to be paid separately . I blame Expedia for my bad experience due to false advertising.

Why does it seem that I am given the worse rooms in a hotel when I get the room through Expedia?
