Nice hotel on the water

Stayed at this hotel on New Years and Valentine's Day such a nice and quiet , newly remodeled hotel very clean and affordable , breakfast is also good and FRESH. When we got to our room on Valentine's Day our room had a complimentary bottle of champagne and chocolate we loved it ! Thanks so much for the great experience we will be back :) AMAZING VIEW

Great location, great views but very run-down.

Pros: Great location, right on the estuary waterfront by the Oakland Yacht Club docks. A nice balcony to watch the sailboats go by. That part, so nice!
Cons: Room interior was very run down, in need of repair and painting and a thorough cleaning, new carpets, etc.
Location: Perfect location for easy access to all the marine industry and fun of Alameda (yacht clubs, marinas, sailing schools, etc.)
This hotel has a definite dual personality so to speak. If you are a glass-half-full type you might call it an affordable hotel with a wonderful view, location and a waterfront swimming pool. If you are a glass-half-empty type you might call it a very run-down and ill-kept property which is wasting the potential of its location. It is both of these things, so whether you'll enjoy the good more than be annoyed by the bad depends on your style.

Horrible experience

1st room had dirty sheets & glassware. 2nd room had blood stain & hair on mattress protector. 3rd room toilet plugged up & had to wait over 1/2 hr to fix & had used soap bar left in the shower. All the rooms had soiled furniture & dirty floors. Will never stay here again or recommend it.

First room the TV did not work. Torn carpet. The second room was upgraded and everything worked. Forgot my cell phone in first room and staff gave me two cards to reenter that didn't work. Finally on third attempt staff went to room (upstairs) to open. Breakfast was a little "stale". It would have been nice if there was a tea bag in room. I doubt that I will stay there again.

Nice view of the marina and friendly staff but...

The sheets were nice. The bed was quite old with a tendency to lean into the middle. The comforter was old and the inside warm stuff was all bunched up. The place was clean and the interior was updated but the outside looked worn.

Customer service and comfort is a long way from this place. Front desk provided poor customer service, it looked like she was doing me a favor by giving me a room. Bed and pillow is horrible! Im not sleeping here tonight, booking a different hotel.

Don’t stay here

We picked this location because it was close to an event we were attending. What a bad choice! First, our key cards didn’t work. They know the key card reader on our room is broken but they still rent out the room and give you a card as though it’s going to work! The shower is only a stall and the door doesn’t latch closed because there is no latch. It looks like the shower door is too big? There is a nasty, rusted and broken clothesline in the shower, the water pressure is almost non-existent and forget about consistant water temperature! From warm to too hot to ice cold with no warning. The tile and sheet rock look moldy. It appears they replaced some light fixtures a long time ago but didn’t complete the sheetrock work around it. The light fixture had a burned out light bulb so it was very dim. Their breakfast was a joke. Bacon and sausage patties. No eggs or potatoes or anything to go with the bacon and sausage. And the exterior doorknob from the back to get into the lobby?? Came right off when a guest tried to open the door! Holes in the ceiling that looked like they attempted to patch but just stopped. The bed was horribly uncomfortable and the room shook and vibrated - I think it must’ve been located by their washing machine. It was truly the worst. Something I might expect from a $50/night establishment. Certainly not something I’d expect for the price I paid or the location!

Sometimes a good stay

Cons: Finish renovating.
Have stayed here many times. Unfortunately it's a bit of a crap shoot, as there are two buildings, and it seems one is better than the other. It's obviously an old hotel, likely 50s or 60s, and one of the two buildings has been recently updated while the other other not. The room I stayed in this time left a lot to be desired, like big white patches of unsanded spackle covering holes in the bathroom door, shower water knob missing, stained bedspread, ugly broken laminate on the top of the dresser. I've stayed in the other building and it was like a totally different hotel.

Ahotel in a lovely location WAY past its prime.

The room we were assigned was decidedly seedy. It was clean enough, but the accommodations were skimpy. The second room was much better, but the accommodations had been modern about 45 years ago....now they are clean but tattered. This hotel advertised breakfast. The breakfast was not generous, and when it was depleted well before the 9:00 closing time, it was not replenished until the Check In Desk personnel went in and did what she could. The muffins were frozen, the sausage and bacon non-existant, and the fruit was depleted.
