Decent hotel...but not worth the price

Posted Aug 10, 2015
Pros: Close proximity to Carlsbad national park.
Cons: The asking price per night.
Location: Just Carlsbad caverns.
Overall, our stay was fairly pleasant. But the hotel was considerably older, and not nearly worth the price they were charging. Other hotels in the area were equally expensive if not more so. Perhaps this is just the going rate in the area. Nice: - Some cookies waiting for you in the lobby when you check in. - Hotel has a restaurant that's a good option when other places are closed in town. Not so nice: - Construction at the hotel (was gutting out a room nearby). - Bunch of giant freight containers stocked in the middle of the parking lot. - Substandard rooms with older carpet, A/C unit, bathrooms, etc. Looked like the newest thing in the room was the TV. - Cost for a night's stay.

Pros: The room was clean, large and comfortable.
Cons: Knowing that the hotel was having renovations to its lobby and breakfast area would have helped ahead of time. Computers were down the whole stay.
Location: White Sands is always a fun trip. We took some round saucer sleds and sand toys and the kids loved it!
The Inn was having renovations done to its lobby area and breakfast room. It would have be been nice to know when we were searching online for a hotel that it would be in this condition. The computers were not working and so we couldn't get information about the billing for our room. The front desk staff was not very friendly, but considering the disarray they were working under, we gave them the benefit of the doubt. One attendant said that she would email the information about the billing to me, but I never received the correspondence. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good and the attendent was friendly and helpful. The kids enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Overall, a good stay, considering the construction. We will probably give this hotel one more try when we are in Alamogordo.

First time and last time at a Fairfield Inn

Posted Apr 10, 2015
Pros: The bed was great!
Cons: Need a cool room with a hot shower, not the other way around!
Location: Good location, but only passing through.
The hotel was under renovation, never a good thing.....the room was very nice, the bed very comfortable...but... the room never cooled down. Even on high, the fan barely blew any air. Water in the shower never got hot. And even though I paid for the room when I booked it through Expedia, the hotel still put a hold for the room payment on my bank account and three days later, it is still on there.

Family Reunion

Posted Mar 24, 2015 on Hotels
We were in town for a family reunion. Hotel was nicely decorated in the lobby and the common areas. Such a shame that the front desk and housekeeping were unable to accomadate any issues. Our hotel door wouldn't lock, you didn't need a key to get in at all-just push the door and voila, you're in! Reported the issue everyday we were there and still no resolution! Fridge never worked either.....same thing, reported everyday and nothing! We had to call housekeeping 3 times to get more towels and toilet paper !!! Simple necessities yet we couldn't get a response! Our in laws have owned a restaurant there for 40+ years and we visit often. Thought staying in a large hotel chain would allow a better experience, jeez were we wrong!

Pool and spa closed for service!

Posted Mar 5, 2015 on Hotels
Everything was top notch except the pool and spa was empty for servicing. I just choose the wrong date to stay here. I would definitely stay here again and hope that the pool and spa were functioning.

Nice Clean Hotel but with a few comments

Posted Mar 2, 2015
Cons: The pool and the spa (hot-tub) were both out of order. We chose this hotel for this reason, so this was unfortunate. The room was very small.
Location: White Sands National Monument.
My husband and I were visiting White Sands National Monument and had never been in Alamogordo before. Compared to the other hotels we say, I am sure this was one of the best in the area.
