Great hotel opened in 1892

Posted Mar 31, 2017
Pros: This was a fantastic property restored to its early 1900s appearance.
Cons: Bused groups of youths should be housed on a separate floor.
Location: Andersonville is approximately a seventeen minute drive to the northeast. This Civil War prison site and national POW Museum is well worth a visit.
We enjoyed our stay in a room with high ceilings, a closet, replica furniture and all the modern comforts with an excellent restaurant as an added benefit. Unfortunately there was a middle school group staying the same night and while the children were courteous they also were somewhat noisy in the halls until later at night. It would have been helpful if such groups could be assigned rooms on a separate floor.

Wonderful old hotel

Posted Mar 25, 2017
On a trip to see a couple of presidents' homes in middle Georgia, Americus was sort of a central location to make an overnight stay. The Windsor Hotel looked like the best place to spend the night, and we were not disappointed. This hotel was built in 1892, and is excellently preserved in all of its Victorian era splendor! It has been modernized, but not at the sacrifice of its historical aesthetics. Walking through the halls sort of reminded us of the hotel that was in the movie "Somewhere in Time". The walls are decorated with photographs of the hotel and other buildings and homes from the early 1890s Americus. Our room was nicely furnished and had one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in! This made for a very enjoyable stay!

Historic Hotel with much character

Posted Jan 20, 2017
Very nice historical hotel with 1800's decor and appearance. The room was clean and comfortable, but no sound suppression. You could hear everything in the hallways and adjacent rooms.

Definitely not 4 stars...

Stayed here because it was close to property we are renovating. Bed was a pillow top bed, but was not very comfortable. Between the bed, people slamming doors all night in the hall and the loudness of the traffic outside, I would not rate as a 4 star hotel.
