I have to speak up about this motel. First of all, its a motel, not a hotel. It's advertised as a "boutique-style hotel." Its quite simply not true. Unfortunately, there is nothing "boutique" about it except the room rate. The rooms barely measure up to a run-of-the-mill, one star motel. There is not one luxury amenity to be found. Anywhere. I tried hard to find one. The floors are bare without one rug. Bathroom counter is extremely dated. The tub had mildew in spots. I didn't shower in it because of it. There was also little room to move around. I wipe down everything with clorox wipes due to the covid risk in public places. I rarely see in other rooms, the amount of gunk that accumulated on those wipes. I felt as though we were being exposed to much uncleanliness. The room did have sufficient towels and pillows. However, neither the towels nor the linens were plush or luxurious. The window didn’t have blackout curtains. It only had a very inexpensive, rather sheer curtain in the middle. The heavier curtains only covered a quarter of the window, at best. Therefore, the room wasn't dark nor conducive to renewing sleep. If a motel intends to elevate its stature by calling itself a boutique, it must provide luxury amenities. Welcome basket, soft robes, extreme cleanliness along with those aforementioned issues being resolved, perhaps a concierge, would posture Merry Acres Inn as a true boutique hotel. Good luck!

We like Merry Acres. It would have been nice to have a nice breakfast, but all it had was wrapped pastries and Luke warm coffee. The grounds are nice, room was comfortable and clean.

This is a little gem of a place. A motor court well capped from the 50s and 60s. Room was clean and I felt safe. Nice pool though I didn’t swim. There were associated restaurants which you could go to or order from and a buffet breakfast in the reception area. So glad I stopped here on my way through town.

We lived in Albany for 45 years and moved away. Because of previous good experiences, we decided to stay at Merry Acres when we visited friends. The rooms were first class in the 1960's bur are now outdated. Breakfast was even poorer than Baymont Inn! The people in the reception area were very nice, and I would rank them much higher than the facility.

This property was a quaint, lovely inn. The rooms were spacious and had just what I needed. It was an older property, but had been updated in certain areas. The room was bare floor, which I loved. The bathroom was older,but more than sufficient. The only issue was the cleanliness of the room wasn’t as good as it should have been… the mirrors were dirty, as well as the floor. Also, on arrival, the staff was wonderful,but on leaving, the attendant on duty spoke not one word…at all. One other treat was there are resident chickens on property, and we just enjoyed them so much!

Old school hotel kept us nicely
Merry Acres Inn is an iconic landmark in Albany. While it is an old school inn the owners have done a great job keeping it updated while maintaining its charm. There is a shuttle that will take you to any of the three restaurants the owners own in town. There is also a great hangout bar at the Manor House which is at the hotel. There is a chance of a rooster crowing at your door early in the morning which was just another added special feel to this place.

Our stay was ok. Breakfast was not great. Worst of our trip at 6 hotels. The toilet ran continually. The bathroom was small and outdated. It was clean and not uncomfortable. I probably would not return but it was not so bad as to recommend others not to. Just have reasonable expectations.

This is a unique property with interesting history. It is peaceful, very well maintained, and the staff were all friendly and welcoming. The pub is cozy and allows guests to have food delivered there. We loved everything about it.

There were pubes on the bathroom door when we came in and they have roosters on the property that start going off around 5am. The bed was ok comfort wise but it was very loud when you move and my husband and I were waking each other up every time one of moved. Got very little sleep and couldn't wait to go home

This is a great hotel with quite a few amenities. I really was enjoying my stay here until 5am rolled around and I was suddenly awoken by a rooster that they have on the property. A rooster. I’m cool with roosters, but if I’m on vacation and trying to enjoy some time away, chances are pretty good I don’t want to be woken up so early by anything, much less a resident rooster.

Rooster on site started crowing at 5:00 am. Room was clean, bathrooms need to be refurbished, cracks in tile and tub. Bed was reasonably comfortable. Air conditioner was old and loud, did not keep room cool during the night. I’m not sure how this place got such a high rating.

Great shuttle service ( complimentary!) to get meals at several tests and bring them to you on the beautiful terrace or your groom or it will take you to the restaurants! And staff very friendly!! Just wish they offered full breakfast! Other than that we will definitely be back when need to stay in Albany!
