Summer storms in the high desert make me love Albuquerque. Although this pic is a little blurry when viewed at full-size, it's not too bad for a snap from the rooftop using my iPhone. Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Sandia peak looking east at a heavy storm rolling in. The international Balloon Fiesta 2015, it's a sight to see! and great festival to check off the bucket list! Everywhere you look there are balloons! One after another, they fill, they rise. It's like watching sleeping giants wake. The International Balloon Festival, also known as Balloon Fiesta, happens every October in Albuquerque. It's totally worth getting up early to see the hot air balloons launch above the desert.
http://www.liferidingshotgun.com/2014/10/balloon-fiesta-2014.html Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta One of the best weekend vacations I've ever spent was in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the International Balloon Festival! You can walk among the balloons and watch them Love this park! Great for throwing frisbee, playing tennis, and walking the dog - its not an official dog park, though, so keep 'em on a leash. Local lizards & salamanders in the special collections lab in UNM's CERIA bldg. I'm staying at the Hampton Inn across from this water park as I drive back to Colorado from college. The Hampton is nice but the wifi is so slow next year when I drive back I'm going to stay there because a water park seems a lot more fun after a long drive. This is nice place to meet or happy hour in bike-friendly Nob Hill. Good food, fair selection of local beers, and friendly staff. Give it a go! Balloon Festival is the first two weekends in October. Hundreds and hundreds of balloons lift off! Color color everywhere! This little food wagon is amazing! Vegan and vegetarian choices: burritos, beans, calabacitas and more. They'll even give you an order # to take into Tractor Brewery while you have drinks and wait on your food. Incredibly accommodating! Sunrise hot air ballooning. There's a few companies to choose from in Albuquerque, but Rainbow Ryders were good and very professional. It's an amazing way to greet the day #goldenhour Tractor. March Fourth - a rockin Troy and partner have been here many, many years and it shows - they give a great cut at a great price! The water park at the Raddison Little Chapel in Patio Escondido. Old Town Albuquerque Excellent place to play or rest in central Albuquerque with a new playground, football and soccer fields, tennis courts, and an adjacent library. Albuquerque International Balloon Festival! Is it a new planet? Is it the apocalypse ? No just a shot from the window of a plane over New Mexico This historic catholic church was built in 1793. Located in the heart of old town Albuquerque, it's one of the oldest buildings in Albuquerque. Can't help but smile watching these beautiful balloons fill and rise. Rooftop view of the center of Green Jeans, a brewery and eatery made completely of recycled shopping containers. All good, beer, and art are locally made. Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta I love the traditional lands of the Acoma Pueblo, who have occupied the area for thousands of years. (Again, if I have named a nation in error, please do correct me - my memory of these travels could certainly be off) I desire to return to Albuquerque in the near future to attend The Gathering of Nations.
While here, my colleague and I ventured to Santa Fe. The CEO of the organization we worked at dropped us off in Santa Fe, gave us a quick tour of the place, and treated us to supper at CowGirl BBQ Steakhouse. We took the train back to Albuequerque - a beautiful 2-hour ride back. We took a bike ride along the Rio Grande River in Rio Grand River State Park (November 2015). Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Petroglyphs in a state park right outside town. Statue in the campground where we stayed for a few days (November 2015) Just spent a great hour of my life here! Jumping and smiling the whole time with James C. Lyke!
