The mass ascension ceremonies at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta! Liftoff before the sun even has a chance to rise. Beautiful day for the next-to-last mass ascension of the year. Every year for a week in October Albuquerque hosts the International Balloon Fiesta. It's an amazing time to be here with the colorful hot air balloons. One of the most photographed events in the world, and the largest festival in the USA, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is truly and incredible sight to behold.
With over 600 balloons on the field and launching into the air together, it's really hard to describe quite how spectacular it is. Hopefully this photo does it justice! It's usually held around October in Albuquerque, and the festival usually runs for around 10 days. Our advice is to plan to attend for a few days to be sure you get to see a mass ascension (these usually happen on weekends and one weekday), as sometimes the weather can lead to events being cancelled.
