Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta The international Balloon Fiesta 2015, it's a sight to see! and great festival to check off the bucket list! Everywhere you look there are balloons! Welcome to Albuquerque's Old Town! Enjoy a beautifully historical walk through the city's past that includes gift shops littered with unique Native and Spanish artifacts, delicious eateries, and a plaza that boasts cultural events to celebrate a long and rich history. Yucca in its full, glorious bloom on UNM campus just north of Northrop Hall. The original Garcia's Kitchen on Central Ave is the BEST of all the Garcia's locations. Tasty food, good prices, and nice proximity to Albuquerque's Old Town make this a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike. A brightly painted and mural covered building downtown Albuquerque.

So much to enjoy here! The KiMo Theatre, a Pueblo Deco building, was erected in 1927 on Central Avenue in downtown Albuquerque. It is home to plays, films, operas, and various other productions year-round. San Felipe de Neri church is on the register of state and national historic places, continuously serving as a house of prayer since 1793. Eating brunch in Old Town, it's not uncommon for visitors to unexpectedly join you. Interesting bit of architecture just north of Downtown ABQ. One after another, they fill, they rise. It's like watching sleeping giants wake. The International Balloon Festival, also known as Balloon Fiesta, happens every October in Albuquerque. It's totally worth getting up early to see the hot air balloons launch above the desert.
http://www.liferidingshotgun.com/2014/10/balloon-fiesta-2014.html Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta One of the best weekend vacations I've ever spent was in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the International Balloon Festival! You can walk among the balloons and watch them Albuquerque’s Downtown Plaza is a gathering place for concerts, summer movies, cultural events and - apparently - a ginormous Adirondack chair A view of the Pete V. Domenici US Courthouse and cloud-covered Sandia Mountains in the background as seen from the 5h floor of the Metropolitan Courthouse. Local lizards & salamanders in the special collections lab in UNM's CERIA bldg. This is the place to be on Saturday morning: live music, fresh produce, hand-crafted goods, and children dancing like gypsies! I'm staying at the Hampton Inn across from this water park as I drive back to Colorado from college. The Hampton is nice but the wifi is so slow next year when I drive back I'm going to stay there because a water park seems a lot more fun after a long drive. This is nice place to meet or happy hour in bike-friendly Nob Hill. Good food, fair selection of local beers, and friendly staff. Give it a go! Balloon Festival is the first two weekends in October. Hundreds and hundreds of balloons lift off! Color color everywhere! This little food wagon is amazing! Vegan and vegetarian choices: burritos, beans, calabacitas and more. They'll even give you an order # to take into Tractor Brewery while you have drinks and wait on your food. Incredibly accommodating! Sunrise hot air ballooning. There's a few companies to choose from in Albuquerque, but Rainbow Ryders were good and very professional. It's an amazing way to greet the day #goldenhour When in Albuquerque we try to visit the St. James Tea Room.
It is hard to believe that you are in the South West and having a Proper Tea.
Beautiful and old church in Old Town Albuqerque, NM Tractor. Troy and partner have been here many, many years and it shows - they give a great cut at a great price! The water park at the Raddison Latin music under the gazebo and dancing crowds on a comfortably warm Saturday evening is an excellent welcome to summer in ABQ. I love this place! Little Chapel in Patio Escondido. Old Town Albuquerque This church in Old Town Albuquerque was established in 1706. Excellent place to play or rest in central Albuquerque with a new playground, football and soccer fields, tennis courts, and an adjacent library. Chiles drying in the Albuquerque sun in Old Town during chile season in New Mexico. Best kept ABQ secret Albuquerque International Balloon Festival! Is it a new planet? Is it the apocalypse ? No just a shot from the window of a plane over New Mexico This historic catholic church was built in 1793. Located in the heart of old town Albuquerque, it's one of the oldest buildings in Albuquerque. Plants growing in glass jars attached with plastic ties to a bus stop cage: a pleasant surprise on a stroll through the south end of Nob Hill. Old-school phone booth in Northrop Hall. The phone has been removed, but a stool remains inside and the doors still open & shut to give one a quiet box in which he or she may find a modicum of momentary privacy. Fire station headquarters @ 8th & Silver The fluorescent mineral display in the geology museum at Northrop Hall always delights! Old Town Albuquerque early in the morning before the tourists rush in Can't help but smile watching these beautiful balloons fill and rise. Rooftop view of the center of Green Jeans, a brewery and eatery made completely of recycled shopping containers. All good, beer, and art are locally made. Old Town Albuquerque, NM This old rail yard featured in Breaking Bad has a farmers market. The Candy Lady has been a New Mexico staple for over 30 years. From traditional sweets to locally flavored specialties like pinyon brittle and Breaking Bad-themed treats, this place is a fun and unique stop in Albuquerque's Old Town Plaza. Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta I love the traditional lands of the Acoma Pueblo, who have occupied the area for thousands of years. (Again, if I have named a nation in error, please do correct me - my memory of these travels could certainly be off) I desire to return to Albuquerque in the near future to attend The Gathering of Nations.
While here, my colleague and I ventured to Santa Fe. The CEO of the organization we worked at dropped us off in Santa Fe, gave us a quick tour of the place, and treated us to supper at CowGirl BBQ Steakhouse. We took the train back to Albuequerque - a beautiful 2-hour ride back. We took a bike ride along the Rio Grande River in Rio Grand River State Park (November 2015). Old Town Albuquerque, NM Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta ⛪️ Old town Albuquerque. Small plaza located in Albuquerque NM I love this spot. Especially when it's around dusk. It is near the CERIA bldg. The Wailers brought their reggae funk to downtown Albuquerque as part of the annual Summer Fest - beautiful night and amazing music! Petroglyphs in a state park right outside town. Statue in the campground where we stayed for a few days (November 2015) Just spent a great hour of my life here! Jumping and smiling the whole time with James C. Lyke! The famous 66 Chile cornbread and Vanilla lattes. 😎
