I am very sorry that we were not able to accommodate your reservation. We had unexpected maintenance issues that have caused us to stay closed longer than expected. We also unfortunately did not have access to any of our reservation information to be able to warn you and to help you get relocated prior to your arrival. We hope we will get to see you in the future. Julie Ruud GM

They closed out second day of 1 week stay

Posted Sep 23, 2016 on Hotels
I booked for a week, on the second day they called me and told me I had to check out as they were closing. Wanted to move me to hotel 15 miles in wrong direction, On the one night I did stay the my door was opened by manager thinking on one was in room, Thank goodness I had the swing latch on, it was almost 11:00PM. They did refund my one nights price but I would never book again

I am so sorry to hear about your stay being interrupted by us closing the hotel down for maintenance. Hopefully when we open back up with new hot water boilers and new air conditioning units in the public areas and some rooms you will be able to experience a much better hotel. I promise that there is also be retraining of the staff so that intrusion does not happen again to another guest. Please contact the hotel personally after we reopen early in 2017 so we can offer you a much better experience. Julie Ruud GM

Could've been a 5 star stay.

Posted Aug 17, 2016 on Hotels
The property is beautiful, hotel is beautiful and the rooms are spacious and very nice. We had some maintenance problems; the A/C controller display was not working and barely hanging onto the wall, the bathroom had clumps of hair and debris in the corners, toilet had fecal matter remenants in it at arrival and the curtain was broken on one side. We also couldn't get onto the free wifi, just was not showing up at all and we had an unfortunate run-in with bed bugs. A little extra attention would have been great as the room is so pretty and the bathroom had a huge tub for two which was great! Housekeeping just needs to pay a bit more attention.

We closed approximately a month after you stayed so we could take care of some of the exact items you described. I am very sorry you had to experience those deeply concerning issues during your stay. We hope to be back open early in 2017 with some major mechanical issues taken care of and with fresh retrained staff waiting to take care of our guests. We hope you will give us another chance to have a great positive experience at the Parc England Hotel. Thank you for sharing your concerns with me so I can get the hotel up to the standards I expect from my staff. Julie Ruud G M

Staff is friendly, but they add on fees!

Posted Jul 19, 2016 on Hotels
We will never visit this hotel again. The staff was nice, very nice, so it's sad it ended the way it ended. They quoted me a price of $125 for the night when I checked in. The next morning, the price had gone up to $150, because we needed a rollaway, and there's an extra fee for a rollaway...except, there is no posted price of the fee at the desk, there is nothing posted on Hotels.com...it was just added to my bill the next morning. Unfortunately, I did not catch it until we had left. I called. NO ONE is empowered to make any decision except the owner, and the owner apparently doesn't have a phone and is in meetings every day for 12 hours a day 7 days a week, he still hasn't called me back. Maybe my phone number is lost in one of the piles in the owners office that's by the front door and that's why he hasn't called me back (it's obvious to me from the 3 times I tried to call you your staff is afraid to tell you your office is chaotic). Like I said, the staff was very nice.

I am very sorry to hear that you had that issue with the prior owner about the roll-away. I will make sure that under the new management that all items are addressed correctly and timely and any additional charges are explained up front so our guests can make informed decisions. We hope we will get another chance to show you exceptional service. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Julie Ruud GM

Needs a deep cleaning

Posted Jul 2, 2016 on Hotels
The staff was friendly and helpful, and the custom made omelets for breakfast were great. The room was surface clean, but needed a deep cleaning. Dirt was on the floor in the bathroom and there was lots of dirt and dead bugs behind the beds. Needs to be cleaner for me to stay again.

Thank you for staying with us, as of September there are new owners and management in place at the hotel. I will make sure before we open all staff is correctly trained on cleaning a room so we can prevent any other guests from having to experience what you did. We invite you back to "test" us out after we reopen in 2017. Thank you again for sharing with us and we look forward to seeing you again. Julie Ruud GM

Run down Not enough towels in the room, no shower mat towel. Desk clerk was great and tried to make things good in every way. Could be great with some updating

Affordable accomdations with LOTS of charm

Posted Jun 12, 2016 on Hotels
This is a great little spot, priced like a generic chain hotel but with far more charm and creature comforts. From the cozy and comfortable lobby to the antique armoires and dressers in the halls to the nicely-appointed rooms (ours featured 2 beautiful antique-looking queen beds and a large ornate desk and chair set, making the place feel like I were staying in a rich old relative's rambling mansion instead of a hotel. Staff was uniformly friendly and welcoming, and our two night stay went great. Our room had a mini fridge but no microwave. Also no hair dryer in the room that we could find (we always bring one anyway). Pool was quite small but they let us swim late into the night so that was cool. Mosquitoes were a BIG problem, consider bringing your own citronella candles or some bug spray perhaps if you plan on swimming. Also wifi speeds were actually decent, averaged about 20Mbps which is far better than most hotels I visit (not too many and usually the cheapest I can find, admittedly). The promise of the hot breakfast, a guy at an omelette station and waffles, was dimmed by the line of folks waiting for his services; we went to McD's instead-- but it might have been great had we gotten our butts up earlier. Anyway, this place has lots of charm, for the price anyway. If I ever had to go to Alexandria again I'd certainly try to stay here first. Very good experience for all of us.

Thank you for staying with us. One of my challenges for when we reopen is to look at better options for breakfast space and items to be available. We look forward to getting a chance to host you all again after we make improvements to the hotel. We look forward reopening early 2017. Thank you again for sharing with your fellow travelers.
