Beautiful Hotel That Just Misses the Luxury Mark

OK--so the location is wonderful (right on the Sea), the room was not luxurious, but very nice (Balcony, sea-view, comfy bed), and the breakfast buffet was lavish. So why not 5 stars? Unfortunately, a few minor and major hiccups make this hotel seem less-than-luxurious and mar the total experience. For example, no coffee/tea set-up in room, no free bottled water offered, and the only amenities were shampoo and bath gel (no body lotion at a place where many would be sunning!) feels a little cheap on the hotel's part. Furthermore, the hotel policy re beach towels (Must be picked up between 10:00AM and Noon only, which is inconvenient for those who leave for sightseeing early and come back late) makes one feel the hotel policies are not construed for patron's comfort but instead for the convenience of the hotel (and the beach towels are very flimsy and only one is given!) But the kicker was that despite the fact that the hotel's website predominantly boasts of the fact that it is located on the beach, the Hotel does not provide its own chairs, lounges, umbrellas, etc. on the beach--if one wants to sit there one must pay for the use of these to the beach vendors; this is in spite of the fact that the hotel cost includes a resort fee.
