Beautiful, Friendly, Historic

Posted Apr 29, 2017
Pros: The atmosphere, the comfort/luxury.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: Right downtown, a must visit in Moravian Bookstore - the oldest bookstore in America! Amazing staff, huge selection. Many local shops.
Beautiful stay, most friendly staff I've ever encountered, welcoming front desk. The stay here is enough to bring me back to Bethlehem, PA. Romantic feel, an immersive experience, really takes you back to the time and era, it was peaceful, incredibly quiet room,

We do agree with your assessment that the Moravian Book Shop is a must visit. It is the world’s oldest continually operating book store. Our Historic Main Street is a wonderful place to stroll and shop as well as visit amazing Colonial History Museums. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Updated in-town classic

Posted Apr 15, 2017
I'm a sucker for traditional and historic hotels, so I intentionally chose the Bethlehem for myself and my family while touring area colleges. Initially having booked a Preferred Double, we found upon arrival that the room, while tastefully and beautifully updated, was too small for my husband and I and our teenage son to comfortably share for two nights. The bathroom, in particular, was a "single occupancy" arrangement with a corner stall shower and free-standing sink (beautiful and historically accurate marble tile, but tiny!). Fortunately, my husband was able to negotiate an arrangement with the front desk to switch us to two adjoining rooms with King beds on a lower floor. Hotel staff, restaurant and bar personnel, could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. Very pleased with our experience.

Dear Marjorie: We know that you have many choices when visiting Bethlehem and thank you for choosing to stay with us. We offer a variety of guest rooms in varying sizes. We are glad that our staff was able to arrange for you the rooms that you would be comfortable in. Our entire staff takes great pride in the service that they provide. We hope that should your son choose one of our local colleges, that we can be your home away from home for those college visits.

Work Trip

Pros: Historic and up to date at the same time.
Cons: Larger food menu at the bar.
Location: Lots of shops outside the door and other food choices as well.
I was in the area for work and the Workplace recommended the Bethlehem Hotel. Very Nice Place to stay!

One and done!

Posted Mar 12, 2017 on Hotels
One and done! We were very disappointed. Linda at check in was very nice. However, the service, and food at Taps was awful! Our server was nice, but she disappeared. our food was terrible. The calimari was over cooked, and the breading was very dark, like the oil was old or something. It was gross. We got had steaks. Both were over cooked. I personally dislike a filet cooked well. I didn't even know that was possible! I had to saw at it to cut it. Lol They have a ton of staff, and they just stand around. It's a great location! The hotel is clean, but nothing special about it. The bathrooms are extremely small! I mean SMALL! The jazz band is from 6-9. At 8 they took a 20 min break. Who does that!!! It's only a 3 hour shift. I planned this get away, and I purposely scheduled it on a Thursday because of the entertainment. That was a joke! They played about 2 1/2 hrs. Over all I think the employees are nice. Lind upgrade my queen to a king with out me asking. She was very kind, and I truly think she's great with customers. If you're looking to go somewhere to relax, drink, and enjoy a good meal. This isnt the place. We couldn't wait to leave. We came hungry, and left hungry. Disappointed!

Dear Traveler: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are dismayed as this is not the traditional experience of our guests if you read our other reviews. We have reviewed your comments carefully and with great consideration. Our Executive Chef is reviewing with our culinary team the proper techniques for our calamari and filet preparation. We do offer live music every Thursday and purposefully only schedule trios or quartets. These are local performers that are favorites around the Lehigh Valley. I’m happy that our Guest Service Representative was able to provide you with a complimentary upgrade and that you enjoyed your hotel stay. We do hope that you will come back to visit and afford us the opportunity to share with you that we can absolutely do it right.
