Not 5 Star Hotel

Posted Jul 17, 2017
Upon arrival we were shown to our room, which wasn't in the main hotel. Then told we would need to pay an extra 20% if we wanted to be there. Given we have a new born baby and there are so many steps that left us with no choice. Hotel is dated, Room was small, no atmosphere in the lobby bar, pool bar/lunch wasn't big enough to cater for the demand. Pool is lovely, Staff were friendly and breakfast was nice tho. I won't be going back, there are better places to go nearby.

Lovely week for two at great location.

Posted Jul 10, 2017
Pros: Calm relaxed environment.
Cons: Bikes could be free. Free water replenished every day not just on first day.
Location: Easy access to Julias beach and Marias Beech. With water sports and beach bars. The main resort of Val do Lobo is a short walk along the beach 20 min.
Fantastic friendly helpful staff. Massive comfortable beds. Great shuttle service to the beach. My wife and I loved every minute of our relaxing stay.

Pity it was overbooked

Posted Jul 8, 2017
Have stayed here before many times. Unfortunately there was a charity golf event on at the time and the reception staff tried to palm us off with a room in an annexe 200 yards away which we declined.only. Then offered 2 cheaper rooms and it was only when we insisted on speaking to the General Mansger that a suitable room suddenly became available. What really spoiled the holiday was that no one bothered to apologise for the way we had been treated. Still a good hotel but unlikely that we would return

Thank you very much for your comment and we regret the level of unstatisfaction with the hotel service. We hope to have the pleasure in welcoming you back at the hotel and suggest to book a superior room from Sea Side View up to avoid being allocate at the hotel Residences that are sold as Standard or Garden View rooms. 10 min walk to the beach. Perfect!

Posted Jun 30, 2017
Cons: Maybe a bit more friendliness from the staff at the bars.
Big impersonal hotel but super clean, has got all the facilities, breakfast is amazing, everywhere you look, you see palm trees. The beach is 10 min walk away, or there is a free shuttle from the hotel. The hotel has a concession on the beach. You can hire a bed and shade and get a towel. It is very safe. Leave your books, cream etc..at lunch, walk 2 min and choice of 5 restaurants on the beach, then back to your bed. Always a lovely breeze on the beach. 6pm, back to the hotel for your 1st cocktail by the pool. What a life!

Great location, friendly and welcoming staff in reception but some miserable waiters in the restaurant. Not a lot to do in terms of entertainment in the evening. Large pool but too many sunbeds crammed around.

Overall a relaxing stay

Posted Jun 26, 2017
This is not a 5 star hotel. It's a 4 star in terms of service and amenities. The pool staff were very friendly and attentive but we found some of the restaurant staff to be grumpy. There was no daily complimentary daily water which is standard for 5 star hotels. The children's outdoor play area was unsafe. The PlayStation and DVD player in the indoor childrens play area were broken. The cleanin staff were very good as the hotel was very clean.

Great choice near beach & good beach restaurants

Posted May 14, 2017
Pros: Wonderful breakfast buffet. Lovely pool.
Location: Beach and beach restaurants (e.g. Julia's). Vale Do Lobo Tennis Academy. Vale Do Lobo golf courses.
We really enjoyed Ria Park. The hotel and its grounds were attractive, well presented and lushly landscaped. The rooms were spotlessly clean. Breakfast buffet, as mentioned in many other reviews, was substantial, nicely presented, offered great variety and was delicious. Service at breakfast was very efficient and friendly too. We particularly enjoyed the pool which was clean, lovely, surrounded by lush planting and was actually long enough in one section for lap swimming (an added bonus for a swimmer!). As it was still the shoulder season, the pool was not over-run with young children so a nice balance between adults and young families. The only suggestion I might make - and it's a minor one - is that when the hotel is not fully booked, and there is availability of superior rooms, guests could be offered upgrades when available. I've travelled a lot and this is a common practice in some countries - it doesn't really cost the hotel anything and it makes the customer feel like a VIP and might just make them feel even more positive feelings about the hotel experience and more likely to return. Just an idea, particularly for quieter time periods. This hotel is also very close to the Vale Do Lobo tennis valley so handy for tennis players and is a short 10 min. walk (or an even shorter drive; though beach parking in peak season could be pretty tricky) to the beach and good beach restaurants.

Lovely hotel for weekend break

Posted May 2, 2017
Third visit and will be back again. Staff very attentive - presented us with surprise bottle of champagne and cake for our wedding anniversary - nice touch. Allowed us to keep our room three hours passed normal check out time because we had early eve flight. Only downside is there's not much atmosphere in the bar in the evening.
