Very nice ski hotel, very good breakfast

Posted Mar 18, 2014 on Hotels
The breakfast was excellent, the public spaces very nice, access to the steam/sauna and pool was great. It's a little further from the lifts than most in Val Claret, but that wasn't a problem, it's still a short walk. Only issue was the size of the rooms, they felt a bit cramped, and one had to take real care to put away ski clothes and equipment to keep it uncluttered.

Very nice and unpretentious hotel

Posted Mar 11, 2014
Pros: Very nice, unpretentious hotel, helpful staff, chalet decor, extremely hygenic, great WiFi, good transport links, good location.
Location: Well, its fairly centrally located in Tignes (Val Claret) the ski resort so its great for mountain pursuits and snowsports. For museums, go to Paris.
Very nice and unpretentious hotel, walking distance to very good slopes and village centre, good underground car-park, short walk to coach-stop for Geneva links, clean, nice alpine wooden decor throughout, linked to good restaurant, very helpful professional courteous staff, extremely clean fitments all new and in excellent condition, WiFi no problems, very good skiroom and boot drying facilities, super extra facilities (pool, gym, etc). Lovely clean smell in skiroom and lifts. Extremely hygenic. Not quite ski to door but a shortish (5 min) walk to main lift area (great by standards of most Meribel chalets). Fairly relaxed checking in and checking out. Breakfast good. Will be booking again - definitely now my hotel of first choice for Tignes.

Good quality hotel central to all slopes. Bus to La Lac stops right outside.

Nice hotel

All very positive! Only slight downside was the understanding of the reception staff to our couple of queries (they could not understand) - but then there English was much better than my French!

A little bit of luxury after a hard day's skiing!

Posted Jan 9, 2014
Pros: Everything! Great location, friendly staff, excellent facilities
Cons: The only thing that I could suggest would be to include a kettle in the room to make a cup of tea when you come in from the slopes...
Location: Excellent location, right next to the bus stop that takes you to the lifts of the Grande Motte. Supermarket and ski hire shops all within 2 mins walk.
We stayed for 2 nights at the Hotel Ecrin du Val Claret after spending a week in a self catered apartment up the road, and it was so nice to have a little bit of luxury after a week of fending for ourselves...! Friendly staff, excellent buffet breakfast, welcome drinks on our first night, and the Chalet Bouvier restaurant was first class (and really reasonably priced). The onsite fitness facilities, swimming pool and spa were top notch as well. I would have no hesitations in recommending this hotel to anyone - it's a real Gem of a find in Tignes.

Overpriced, really bad breakfast

Posted Jan 6, 2014 on Hotels
Hotel is in reasonable shape and not too far (500 m) from lifts. Can ski back at end of day, but tricky. Breakfast was terrible...cold mushy eggs and vienna sausage from a can. Even the toaster didn't work well. Poor value in a nice ski town.

The best hotel I know in Tignes

Posted Mar 13, 2013
Pros: Fantastic pool and health spa; Good location; Good breakfast and lovely bar area. Beautiful and spacious building.
Cons: Small bedrooms but made up for with very well appointed and modern bathrooms
Location: Next to the road in Val du Claret, close to all Tignes' amenities and ski areas
The hotel is well located for bus, night-time activities and of course for skiing. It is very spacious and a really beautiful wooden building in which to stay. Best of all, there is an absolutely fantastic pool, sauna and hydrotherapy installation (best I've ever seen), ideal to restore aching muscles after a session in the snow. Rooms are rather small but similar to alternative winter chalets in the region. The bar area with an open fire and breakfast room are great as is the service from all staff. Strongly recommend a stay.

Hotel Ecrin du Val Claret

Posted Apr 10, 2012 on Hotels
Family of 2 Adults + 2 Kids with 17 + 14 years for a week of ski holidays. Have booked 2 standard doubles (1 place with reduction). Got 2 rooms side-by-side with connecting doors, which was very convenient!. Both rooms with small (1,5 m²) but sunny (western-facing) balconies. As described in many reviews before, the rooms with bath and seperate WC have a nice 4 star standard (even if the hotel only has a 3 star category). Yes, the rooms are narrow with short and small beds, but there is nothing you really can claim about. Maybe only if there is just one chair in the room, or that you always get in trouble with the labyrinth of opended doors in the narrow corridor ;-) Very good Hotel facilities: Reception always friendly. No problem to get 4 free WIFI tickets, one for each of us. Covered parking deck at reasonable price. Boot dryer room was very effective - best I ever had in 30 years! Enough space in the very safe ski locker boxes. We didn't use gym and pool area, but it looked very well equipped. Breakfast room nice and comfortable with good breakfast offering and convenient service. The restaurant also looked nice, but we only dined once, as the menu didn't look very promising to us. The hotel is placed at the entry of Val Claret, some 400 m away from the central lift starting point. You could use the free bus which runs frequently and stops in front of the hotel, or you could use a horizontal cable lift, which goes along the other side of the big parking lot, which is in front of the Hotel.
