Perfect location for skiing to the door

Pros: Bar was a great place for a drink with live music some of the time.
Cons: Room was a bit dark and main restaurant was simplistic - almost too much so.
Location: Location was perfect - ski back to the door - and right in the heart of Val Thorens - easy access to Val Thorens.
Everything you would need for a great skiing holiday. We even had an upgrade for a view of the piste. Hotel was an interesting design - quirky octagonal shape.

Fifth stay here and after the partially successful renovation a couple of years ago, Le Val Thorens seems to raising its game again. Location is perfect, staff friendly and food very good. Piste view recommended as this brings a smile to every morning.

Great Val Thorens Hotel

Pros: Everything
Cons: I really can't think of anything- particularly for the price.
I am not sure what else you could ask for in a hotel for a Ski break. My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights and thought it was brilliant. We stayed room only, and felt the room was really comfy and good value, the hotel felt of a high standard throughout and the ski access was second to none - walk out the locker room straight onto the piste. We didn't eat at the hotel, but enjoyed relaxing on the terrace with a beer after skiing, or sitting in the lounge in front of the fire. Excellent service from the staff, and a wonderful location.

Pros: The location mainly.
Cons: Sorry but 150 characters is not enough to write down what needs improving but the main thing to sort is rude staff. Its just not acceptable.
Location: That was the only good thing been on the piste and in the center.
Some of the staff sighed when asked to do something, having stayed in the Altapura last year and experienced staff who could not do enough for you to come here and some of the staff be rude was a huge dissapointment. However half way through our stay some new staff arrived and said they had come from courchevel and they were much better and more helpfull. The food was ok but when we walked into the buffet it was that small and limited i had to look around to see where it was with only 3 main dishes available and very overpriced for what it was. We ate out every night after that and had some lovely food for half the price.

Great on piste location

Pros: Ski to/from door Fondue restaurant On-site ski hire with 20% discount for guests They got our lift passes for us
Cons: Sewage smell in the lift and in our toilet. Lack of lights, gloomy in places Drinks are very expensive Took 2 dys for them to fix the lamp in our room
Location: Right in town centre, ski in/out location, near sledge run and all other town facilities
Had to make a video for my daughter's GCSE. Many thanks to the man who runs the ski hire shop (ValthoSport) for showing us how they prep the skis, with wax and edge sharpeners. Also the types of skis and the binding calculations. He was extremely helpful. Stayed in this hotel for the 3rd time, first time since the renovations. Whilst I am a fan of the contemporary look, I feel that the hotel has lost a lot of its cosy feel. Everything that doesn't move has been painted in a mushroom colour. The food in the French restaurant was good (and better than before) but the Fondue restaurant is still our favourite. All staff were very friendly. Pool was cold, we wished they had a hot tub.

Renovations not complete

Pros: Ski in / ski out
Cons: Poor customer service
This hotel does not currently deserve a 4* rating - it is not ready following renovation, many things do not work in the hotel and in your room (e.g. wifi, leaking roof, lights, etc). The staff are also incapable of offering any apologies for the inconvenience. Definitely not worth the price of the room.

Centrally situated hotel for ski lovers

4 out of 5

Cons: One should be able to print the booking documentation in the native language of the hotel !!
In this hotel the young and service minded staff really tries its best to get the customer feel welcome and "home". I spent one sunny Mars week skiing stayed at the hotel. Payed extra for breakfast. Payed no visit to the hotel's spa area though it was included in the room price. To sum up the pros: - large and airy room with a semi long hair full carpet (that was kept clean daily). - beds match what one expect from a four star hotel - a high standard french type breakfast buffet - magnificent location in the village and for skiing as it is directly at the slope - excellent spacious, functioning and clean ski/boot locker area - a huge sun terrace that is divided nicely into different areas - hotel guest get 20% off when hiring skies etc. from the shop by the hotel entrance. The cons: - rooms facing the village must stand the shouting of the lively nightlife people - the wi-fi username and psw must be renewed at the reception daily - the wi-fi is unstable and I had daily difficulties in the breakfast area - the elevator seemed to irritate lot of customers. In a 4store building you waited often 3-5 minutes or more before it came. No intelligence in the elevator system or information as you wait on any floor. - small details on the service /cleaning level do not immediately irritate but are a bit annoying The over all impression is a hotel trying really hard to stand up to the fourth star and to have customers coming back.
