The location was stunning. The access to hiking trails exceptional. The staff was first class. The restaurant, especially the breakfast buffet was excellent. We simply were thrilled and recommend it highly.

Definitely get the panoramic room at the Seehaus. Waking up to that view is worth every dime. Fantastic staff. Food is delicious. Can't think of a better place on earth to spend Christmas!

This was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in! It was even more beautiful in person. It's a nice hike down to the town with really nice views along the way. The room was cozy, clean and comfortable with a gorgeous view of the lake. It was so nice waking up in the morning and sitting on the balcony watching the sunrise. The food was delicious as well, with a very nice restaurant. We rented bikes from the hotel to bike around the area.

Hotel is out of town next to a nice lake with lots of hiking opportunities. Room servive was average at best: ran out of shampoo and liquid soap. dirty dishes were left in the room, beach towels were not changed. View out of rooms was spectacular, but we paid for that. Dinner options limited. Dinner buffet not very attractive. Staff only average for $400/night

We loved the size of our family panorama suite, the view of the lake and mountains was absolutely stunning. However, the accommodations are missing basic amenities for active families traveling with children, such as nightlights (all reading lights by the beds were only usable in conjunction with the bright wall lights, not separately unless you unscrew the light bulbs) or dimmers, wall hooks in the bedrooms, a second bathroom with bathtub, outlets by the beds, a line or rack to dry off your bathing suits and wet clothes, a light on the terrace, a tea/coffee maker (we were told to borrow a water kettle from the front desk but it didn't come with cups or tea bags), separate light switches in the living room (there are plenty of lamps but you can only turn on all of them at once or you sit in the dark, no reading light or possibility to dim). We appreciated the fridge in the room but it was tiny and didn't fit most of our bottles There is no AC and the only way to get air is to open the windows which means you're letting a ton of bugs and mosquitoes in, as well. A huge spider in the bedroom seemed to benefit most from that. Another issue were the closings of the lakeside restaurant and spa upon our arrival. The spa didn't reopen until the end of the second day due to maintenance and it appears that there is still construction and limited access in the sauna area. The jets in the jacuzzi didn't work. The limited dining options forced us to drive down to town twice.

The hotel is off the beaten path but that's what makes it quiet and beautifully surrounded by nature. Our room overlooked the lake with mountains beyond! The breakfast was very good and the restaurant at night was excellent--It isn't open full time so we only got to eat there once in our 2 night stay. Parking was in front of our building. Nice for families and lake activities (nothing motorized). Would highly recommend!

A Fabulous Place
Located on a small lake with great views of the Alps this is a special place with a genuine dedication to customer service. It is located close to Garmisch-Partenkirchen so readily accessible to the Zugspitze and other attractions.

Wow wow and wow! This place is amaaaazing!!!! From arriving in our hire car, we just knew this place and it's setting were going to be something special. A beautiful warm welcome from the girls on the front desk. Some complimentary delicious treats were offered to us on arrival! This hotel is very high on class and quality and the setting on the lakeside and amongst an amazing forest you can hike all around. The snowfall made it even more magical. The food was delicious. We ended up just eating at the hotel in the evenings because it was very reasonably priced and nice selection of menus. You can either eat in the main hotel or the seehaus where we had our wonderful room with theost breathtaking views of the mountains. Breakfast was also a highlight every morning. A fine and quality selection of cooked breakfast (bacon, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, hard boiled eggs) Porridge/Bircher/yogurts and all the cheese and meats. This place is amazing value and has a lovely older lady serving in the seehaus. she is a right character! Called me The Schnitzel man because I couldn't get enough of their elite level schnitzel hee. Would stay here again and most certainly will be back. :)

Excellent location!! The room was very nice and incredibly clean. I opted for the dinner option which was a buffet. The food was wonderful. Breakfast was included and it was just as delicious. The staff were very polite and helpful. Will definitely stay here again

Place looks great and was very welcoming but after a day it went downhill. room not cleaned, would not let us get food in the bar area even though others were eating in this area. Breakfast was disorganized., hot water for tea was luke warm - had to ask for it from the kitchen, cooked food on buffet was cold.

The location is great and the staff was absolutely wonderful. The ladies in the breakfast dining room couldn’t do enough to make sure you were happy with your breakfast. The staff at the front desk were helpful with our requests and helping with our planning for our activities. The hotel had some renovations going on that should make the experience even better. They renovated the sauna and the breakfast dining area. There were repairs being made to one of the elevators that required you to use others, no real problem. Overall a great experience.

Some improvements needed.
We have stayed here five times and love its location and ambience however we see things sadly slipping. No longer the big welcoming log fire in the reception area. Sauna and steamroom closed for renovation (that's ok that it is being renovated but nobody told us this when we booked ). Floating pontoon for drinks and snacks on lake removed. Half board dining one night was simply awful. In fairness, breakfast is first class. Staff are wonderful all areas. Not a lot to get the show back on the road Hotel Riesersee so go for it! .

We are sad to hear "things sadly slipping", because we do our very best - and especially this year - to renovate, modernize and renew our hotel and to make our guests feel comfortable with us! We still have the big log fire in the reception area, but probably it was not cold enough to light the fire during your stay. So you have to come back on colder days :-) Next week our new sauna area will be finalised, so you're able to enjoy it extensively during your next stay at Riessersee Hotel. Yes, unfortunately we had to remove the floatings. They were rotten and the maintenance became more and more expensive. ;( We are really sorry for the night of enjoyable half board! But luckily you enjoyed our delicious breakfast buffet! :) We would be delighted to welcome you again for your 6th visit and to show you our hard work had paid off to get the show back on the road! Hotel was located beside a beautiful lake and had a nice view of the mountains nearby. There has to be better soundproofing or at least some staff should keep a lookout for loud guests , especially after 10PM when everyone is trying to get some sleep. While we were staying there, a large group of guests were in front of the hotel, being loud and rowdy all the way till midnight. We could hear them well, even though our windows were tightly closed.

The hotel was located in the hills above the town and was quiet and beautiful. It had a great spa with a swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room and more.

This was a resort in a beautiful setting within the Alps. This place had the best breakfast buffet ever for us. The small lake was a bit dissappointing--not because of its size but I think because it didn't look clean or inviting. However, on the day that we left (2 night stay) we saw someone cleaning out the muck or whatever it was floating on top of lake.

Nice hotel but not as good as it was 10 years ago!
Revisited this hotel after 10 years absence and although it is a nice hotel in a fantastic setting it was missing the previous ambience and in need of some tlc. The clientele has changed and the spa and pool was being repaired during our visit which was very disappointing considering that was one of the main reasons for booking. All in all a nice hotel but has changed too much to tempt us back.

Great place for stopover
Nice hotel with lots of space and facilities, although in need of some modernisation. Higgins Hill so you will need car or taxi to get into the town.

A Wonderful Hotel and Spa in the German Alps
Lisa Stark, the Front Desk Manager, was great! She gave us a great room with a balcony overlooking the city of Garmish, which was beautiiful at night as she predicted. Our server for dinner, Ilisa Pavkovic, was excellent as was the food in your restaurant. Likewise, our server at the wonderful breakfast, Durdica Kucek, was also attentive and excellent. I liked the massage that I received that evening from Maria Galland. We both enjoyed the spa with the sauna and steam room in the evening. A wonderful hotel, which we will recommend to others.

The best thing about this hotel is the location,, other than this was unbelievably bad & it should not be rated as a 4 star hotel,, specially the recitation staff were all over the place,, couldn’t do their job probably,, & asked us to pay city tax for the same room twice.

Beautiful setting. Maisonette rooms were large and comfortable. Air conditioner worked great. GOod food and beer.

Beautiful short stay resort hotel
We found it confusing to find our way around. There are many stairs to climb and the lifts are unclear with directions- we met other guests equally confused. However the food was fabulous but some of the staff on reception seemed too busy to be concerned with our needs.
