Nothing fancy, but nice enough.

Posted Aug 24, 2017
Pros: What I liked the most about this hotel was the friendliness of the staff and, of course, the location of the hotel.
Cons: Simple things could be improved: Adding a machine that dispenses detergent for the laundry and adding a vending machine with drinks.
Location: It's close to the train station. The cities of Marfa and Fort Davis are nearby and, of course, Big Bend National and State Parks.
The hotel is nice, simple, and convenient, since it is located (like all hotels in Alpine) very close to the train station. There was certainly nothing fancy about it, but it was also the least expensive so I cannot really complain. The staff is friendly and very helpful with everything, including directions and suggestions for places to go. The room was clean and the television has expanded cable with quite a few channels. However, I did find it a bit odd that one day the room wasn't cleaned until about 4:30 p.m., but it wasn't a major issue. (The rest of the week it was cleaned at the regular time in the morning.) Also a bit odd was the fact that there are no vending machines. I was told that they had run out of bottles of water and they also ran out of detergent for the laundry. No, there is no detergent dispensing machine like I've seen at other hotels. However, there is a gas station next door (about a half minute walk) where I easily obtained the water and detergent at al reasonable price, so I cannot say this was a major issue, but perhaps enough to bring my rating from five stars to four stars. I did not use the pool or hot tub so I cannot comment on those. Free breakfast was available (until 9:30), although it was the exact same thing everyday, which was eggs, sausage, waffles, and small muffins. I suppose this is typical but would it really be that difficult to vary the breakfast a bit? In summary, it's a nice hotel for the price.

Visit

Pros: Convenient to what we were going to do in the area.
Cons: Nothing
Location: We did visits to Fort Davis, the McDonald Observatory which is a must, as well as touring Alpine and Marfa.
It is an older facility - but very adequate for a stay of several days while visiting the Big Bend area of Texas. Room was clean and the staff was great. Breakfast was good each morning. Good place to stay will taking in Fort Davis and the McDonald Observatory as well as all the attractions in Alpine.

Had a lovely stay here. Staff and lobby were great! Room A/C needed some work though. Overall I'd stay here again!

I've stayed at this hotel twice and I have had really good experiences. The hotel is clean and reasonably priced so it is definitely my hotel of choice when I visit Alpine

The Quality Inn was a very nice hotel. My only complaint was they didn't clean our room one of the days. We had left the do not disturb sign out. So, I can only figure when we left they forgot they had not gotten to our room.

The room smelled like a dog had been there and had urinated on the carpet. We also didn't like that the sink wasn't in the bathroom. Small complaints, but we won't stay there again. The staff was really nice.
