I had asked for help finding church service times. The front desk personnel spoke great English but told me to research it. Not realizing everything is in German so I can’t read the website information. I overheard her saying the same to other guests asking for help with the reservations… do it on the website. Didn’t come across as willing to help.

The only benefit in Scala hotel is the location. I used to stay in Scala since a long time. But they changed a lot. No one of the staff is hospitable except for the Lady that serves breakfast. They don’t clean the bathroom. Only tidy the beds and change towels. The guy on the reception lectured me for asking for one more towel. The pillow is a duvet covered with a pillow case.

We chose this hotel for its convenient location for public transport and the Christmas market. It is very basic but adequate. Apart from the gentleman who checked us in, the staff did not appear to be very friendly.

Our son got sick in Frankfurt and they were very accommodating. We stayed an extra day and the front desk gave us a great price.

It was ok. The door in the shower was broken, and the bathroom was incredibly dated. It is also located across from a bar/nightclub which makes sleeping at a weekend almost impossible.

Quiet, no-frills accomodation in a great location. Lobby and breakfast area are fairly modern, but my room and the coridors could use a real update. It seems like a partial renovation was completed at some point with an eye on the budget more than anything. Access to transit was a huge plus, and the area has a ton of great shopping and sightseeing. Overall, would stay here again myself, but couldn't recommend to overly discerning friends.

The staff was friendly efficient and very accommodating . Communicating with staff was easy as they were very comfortable in English German and at least one other language I overheard Staff also made good suggestions for food and things to do

Avoid in the summer heat
The hotel is at the edge of the tourist and shopping areas. I felt safe during the day, but it felt a bit seedier in the evening. It was a hot summer and there is no AC. Couldn’t leave the window open at night due to street noise and safety, so the room was uncomfortably warm. They did provide a desk fan. There was no phone in the room so whenever there was a problem I had to go in person to the front desk. The young guy at the front desk most of the time was extremely rude. There was an older woman that worked there and she was quite helpful. That said, I would choose another hotel next time.

Convenient to Zeil shopping area, restuarants, bars, U line that takes you directly to airport in 20 minutes. Room was very small and lift goes to 8 floor, 9th floor you must climb a set of stairs. Check in was fast and easy and staff was very helpful

This hotel is deceiving and nicer then first appears from the outside. The unfortunate issue for this hotel is broken cooling system and it appears that it has been down for some time. It is a shame as hotel is well located, cpmfortable clean rooms for the price, but I could not recommend this hotel for people looking for a location in the heat of the summer. The room temp simply could not be cpntrolled.

It’s a great location to get around, easy access to Frankfurt Airport and may of Frankfurt’s parks via the metro, there are many places to eat nearby. I stayed on the 9th floor in a single room, it was really clean except for a dusty shelf above the clothes rail, which I only noticed the night before I was checking out. I did find it a little disconcerting that the fire alarm system, only seemed to exist 3/4 of the way down the corridor on the floor I was staying on. I can’t say this for all rooms but my room had a battery operated smoke alarm, the type you would have in your own house. If this is the case for all rooms and if a fire were to happen, it could be sometime for the smoke to reach the fire alarm system in the corridors, delaying of course the rest of the guests staying there from being alerted to evacuate.

The hotel is in a good location. Hotels nearer the main station are in a much worse for wear area. Simple, clean and easy. If you’re looking for a budget stay near a nice part of town, this is what you’re looking for!

Lovely staff but they need to invest in carpets or better windows. Constant noise from the street, echoing corridors make a good nights sleep..challenging. Excellent shower pressure, which is not always the case even in 5* hotels in Frankfurt. Agian though lovely staff.

Always my first option in the city
It was my third time in Frankfurt, and it was my third time at Hotel Scala. I didn't even consider anywhere else. The staff is always extremely kind, the rooms are comfortable, very clean and cozy. And it is located in what I consider to be the best spot in Frankfurt, within walking distance to Zeil, to the Old Town, the Iron Bridge, Main Tower, among others. I highly recommend staying here.
