Good location, pleasant staff, halls showing age

Posted Feb 11, 2018
Pros: Location and friendly staff.
Cons: Corridor areas
Location: Very well located close to Marienplatz.
Good central location with old town areas within easy walking distance. Warm welcome by helpful and friendly staff. Room adequately appointed but not overly large. Corridors outside the rooms showing their age with stained carpets. Having said that we would definitely stay there again.

five star hotel that it is not

Posted Jan 7, 2018
We have been going to this hotel for almost 40 years, and we have been noticing every year more and more an unacceptable situation: the presence of something similar to escort service in the lobby of the hotel where you are with your family enjoying some food or drinks. We spent several nights in the hotel, and went to the lobby every night to enjoy a piece of cake; and we noticed the same woman sitted next to us, displaying inappropriate behavior and inappropriate dress code. I will not advise parents to bring their child to this hotel, because it is completely innappropriate the dynamic that was going on in the lobby. To me and my family is completely unacceptable that the hotel allows for escort service to be present in the hotel. We have decided to stop going to this hotel which was our family's tradition.

Dear bp, Thank you very much for sharing your highly appreciated feedback. We deeply regret that the overall impression of your last stay was not a positive one like during the years before. Being a five star luxury hotel, we are very proud of our lobby that is considered "Munich's most beautiful living room". It is our utmost goal to ensure the ultimate Kempinski experience in the hotel and the outlets for our guests. For the time being, we have no information regarding escort service in the lobby. We take your comment very seriously and kindly ask you to contact us directly to share some more details with us. In the hope to welcome you back we remain with best regards, Monika Tritz, Regional Director of Operations - Europe

Five star hotel

Posted Dec 28, 2017
Pros: Newly renovated; Bathroom Amenities; Small thoughtful gestures (21 macaroons upon checkin)
Cons: The mattress was likely old and sloped slightly. The pillows were small and had no support.
Location: Location was great. Just a few blocks from Hoffbrau House and Marienplatz Christmas Markets.
We were booked in a newly renovated room. Although, the wardrobe was HUGE, the lights were a little wonky and the timers were not working properly. The bathroom was enormous with wonderful lighting and a newly installed Toto bidet (automatic lights, flushing and self cleaning as well as personal controls). We ate room service one evening on a whim and it was so delicious we ordered a second evening. The lobster bisque was to die for. Although pricey, definitely worth it if restaurants are closed.

Wonderful combination of urban luxury and ambiance

Posted Nov 28, 2017
Location: Historic center of Munich and key shopping locations are within short walking distance.
Central location, historic building, helpful associates, effcienct service - all you can expect from a Kempinski plus the great atmosphere of this historic property. Cosy bar, supurb breakfasts. Highly recommended. We stayed repeatedly in this hotel when in Munich and it never disappointed.

Plush hotel from bygone times

Posted Nov 17, 2017
Pros: The spa - very classy
Cons: Drink making facilities in room as hotel coffee hugely overpriced and service painfully slow if you are gasping for a morning cuppa
Location: Very central
We had a lovely time. The hotel is terribly plush if rather eccentrically renovated, the rooms are spacious and the spa an absolute treat. Only minor gripes are that no coffee/ tea facility in room and hotel drinks are absurdly expensive.

Good location but needs a refresh

Posted Nov 15, 2017
The hotel is in an excellent location and is generally nice but is in need of a "light" refreshment. The rugs in the hallways are frayed and in general, the public areas are a bit dated. The room itself was quite nice and quite possibly was updated fairly recently

Convenient location, lovely pool

Posted Nov 11, 2017
A very nice quality hotel in a convenient location surrounded by high end designer shops. There is a very good cafe on the corner of the street if you wish to avoid the excessive cost of breakfast, one of the main disadvantages of this hotel. Also on the downside is a lack of hot drinks facilities in the room, if you ask for some you will be given a limited choice herbal tea- no coffee, and charged 12 euros per person. Apparently some rooms have nespresso machines-we would have been very pleased to have had one! The hotel bar has happy hour cocktails in the early evening which is good value and the staff are great. The Spa is a highlight, with a lovely clean pool.

Great place for Octoberfest

Posted Nov 6, 2017
We got a newly redone room done just in time for Octoberfest. The hotel is 2 blocks from the Hofbrau House and the Sunday Morning Octoberfest is right in front of the Hotel.

Need to improve the service, hotel staff were very slow considering that they are giving a bad impression of a reputable international hotel group. Need to update the rooms and the quality of the rooms.
