Lovely hotel to stay at in Amalfi

Posted Oct 2, 2016
We have just returned from a 2 week stay at Hotel Amalfi. It is a lovely, family run hotel just off the main street .The room was a good size and comfortable with a bathroom with a shower, it was cleaned on a daily basis. The breakfast was very good with lots of choice, cereals, lovely fresh bread, ham, cheeses, pastries (savoury and sweet), local cakes, yoghurts and fresh fruit and friendly staff to greet you and make your coffee (or tea). All the staff were so friendly and helpful with lots of local knowledge and tips especially if you wanted to know the best way to travel to other places, nothing was too much trouble. They can organise a transfer to and from the airport if you need it. It was such a good base to enable us to explore the area and there are many really good places to eat within a short walk from the hotel and once the day time tourists have gone Amalfi has a lovely homely feel to it to relax and enjoy the evening. We would definitely stay here again. Amalfi is a beautiful place in its own right and great base to travel all around this area. We used the buses, tram, boats and trains to visit Ravello, Pompei, Herculaneum, Paestum, Positano, Capri and Sorrento and some smaller places, such as Viertri Sul Mare which is home to some beautiful ceramics dotted all around the town, which are not on the usual tourist trail. The bus rides are an experience in their own right and a great way to appreciate the beautiful views both of the coastline and the lemon groves

Bella Amalfi!

Great location in the middle of Amalfi. Hotel and room are clean and comfortable, with lots of offerings for breakfast. Would definitely stay there again, although staying in Positano would be great too!

Friendly, clean hotel close to transportation

Posted May 21, 2016
The hotel is easy to find and a 5 min walk to main square/bus/ferry terminals. The room was small but adequate for sleeping. Everything worked in the bathroom and was clean. Wi-fi was weak and a storm knocked it out completely. Breakfast buffet was impressive and staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful.

Good location..more steps!

Posted May 19, 2016
Pros: Good location. Many good restaurants in the area.
Cons: New shower doors! The outside doors were locked from the inside and could only be opened with the key..a definite fire hazard.
Location: Location was very good...right on the Main Street of Amalfi.
The pictures shown for Hotel Amalfi were quite misleading. The garden and our private patio were unkept and shabby. Smashed oranges that fell from the trees were left in the walkways. The shower door was very old and extremely difficult to open or close. But the room was clean and the staff was very pleasant. It was disappointing not to have an English Channel on the television. The breakfast was adequate. Our room had two doors that locked from the inside with a key. Access in case of fire could be difficult.

Great hotel in the centre of Amalfi

Posted Apr 7, 2016
We had a large room at the back of the hotel. It was very pleasant and quiet considering it is in the middle of the town. Breakfast was good and staff were helpful.

This is a great hotel for its location

Posted Oct 19, 2015
Pros: Town Centre location, everything is within walking distance
Cons: Tea/Coffee facilities and English Language channels on the TV
Location: Town Centre location, everything is within walking distance
Good for location, you can walk everywhere. the rooms are basic, TV and fridge provided but no tea/coffee making facilities and the TV is Italian only. being town centre it can be noisy and internally the hotel has tiled floors so again adds to the noise. beds were comfy and the room was clean.

Fantastic location. Close to the action yet quiet

Posted Aug 7, 2015
Pros: The location is brilliant. Really close to the action and yet because it is tucked away behind another hotel it is fairly quiet. Staff helpful too.
Cons: Not sure. The breakfast room is a bit stuck in the 70s and feels a bit tired, but the selection of food makes up for it.
Location: Good base for the day trips you must do. Capri, Positano (half a day is enough), Pompeii are all worth it, and spend some time on the beach too!
A brilliant location to explore the Amalfi coast. It is very close to the main street, the eateries and bars and yet because it is tucked away, it is fairly quiet. The staff were very accommodating and cheerful. From the hotel manager who came and met us in the square where our taxi dropped us, to helping us with any request we had - this was a great choice. Amalfi too as a destination is a good base. Half way between Salerno and Sorrento means everywhere is accessible. Thought the cuisine was a bit uninspiring. Most of the places in Amalfi seemed to serve up similar dishes - variations on a theme. However the early evening drink sat in the square opposite the cathedral people-watching was so relaxing. Amalfi certainly is beautiful - living up to it's reputation, but it is hilly so you need to be fit-ish if you intend walking anywhere! It is of course a bit commercialised though in places. Overall recommended.

Simple Hotel - excellent location

Posted Jul 28, 2015
Pros: The proximity to the beaches, shops and restaurants
Cons: The beds were a bit soft
Location: We had the beach, the shops and restaurants all within walking distance. Outside the hotel into the long walkways was unique, neighborhood was great
Our hotel room was simple it worked for us. We basically slept and changed our clothes and were out most of the day and night. Our hotel was located in the heart of Amalfi and all its shops. It was a short walk to the beach and wonderful cafes. The staff was friendly
