Great Family-Owned HotelPosted Aug 20, 2016
We stayed in Positano for 3 nights in mid-August 2016. We were on the 3rd floor of the hotel, in one of the 'basic' double or queen rooms. Pros - family owned and staff was very helpful; amazing restaurant on site (I think it is #5 or 6 in the city according to several lists I saw - with a 10% discount for hotel guests); amazing view with wonderful/private balcony; location was wonderful - out of the way of center of town but still easy access (at least on the way down); amazing breakfast spread each morning Cons - our room was quite loud at night and we were woken up between midnight and 2 am by guests staying in other rooms on the third floor, which was frustrating Otherwise, we had no complaints! The staff really made the stay great, and the views were incredible. The room was a little bit more out of date than I was expecting, but this was not a problem for us. The wifi also didn't work well in the room, but did work well in the common areas. Again, not a problem for us, but I mention it because I know some people rely on that to stay in touch with work. Also - be aware that the location might be considered a "con" to some. It is quite a far walk up if you are planning to go to the center of town or the beach every day. There is a bus that will take you back up but it only runs every 30 minutes and in peak season, it is very hectic trying to get on the bus. We loved the location, but just something to be aware of.

Horrible service, bad food, great roomPosted Aug 12, 2016
Pros: The room was lovely and the view breathtaking
Cons: The service miserable and the staff rude
The room here was outstanding. Lovely balcony with comfortable lounge chairs and a breathtaking view. That's the only positive. We started with dinner outside when we arrived. Main course was over cooked and mediocre. Starters unremarkable and the desserts were sent back. A lavender pudding and tiramisu that was truly tasteless. We eat out a lot and like excellent food. This failed. Waiter was rude and unhelpful which is the general attitude of the staff. On the first morning, we went to the buffet breakfast. Nothing hot. Small selection of meats and cheese. A large number of selections in packages! Mozzarella for example mimicked the dinner: tasteless and old. Coffee had way too much milk. Next morning we called down and asked to have breakfast up on our fabulous balcony. Lady was rude. Said that the selection was too large and that we should just come down and get it. She said they had no menu like other places and didn't know what to bring. We have stayed all over Europe and on the same request, we were just brought up a selection of the house. This was the most expensive hotel at which we stayed. The next day in Sorrento, the breakfast buffet had salmon, omelettes, fabulous pastries, meats, cheeses, bacon, fruits etc. A true selection. On check out, when we noted our issues, the woman dismissed our complaints and personal preference. Honestly, this place wasn't worth it. Stay away.

Beautiful hotelPosted Aug 9, 2016
Pros: Modern and updated rooms. Friendly staff.
Location: The location is within walking distance to all transportation, restaurants, the beach & shopping.
Villa Gabrisa is an updated, clean, modern hotel perched on one of the hills of Positano. It's rooms are clean, spacious enough for 2 people and provides you with a balcony that allows you to enjoy the breath-taking views of the Amalfi Coast. It's only drawback is that it's a bit high up from the beach and, therefore, requires a 10 to 20 minute walk (depending up on your energy level and the time of day) to and from the beach. The tradeoff is that the higher up from the beach you go, the better the views will be. We spent 5 nights at Hotel Gabrisa and loved it. I would go back in a heartbeat.

BeautifulPosted Jun 13, 2016
Pros: Luxurious, Clean, friendly staff
Location: Shopping and Dining at your fingertips
We were greeted by Robin with a smile. Check-in process was a breeze. We took our own car, and the hotel had parking. They have a beautiful outdoor dining area looking over Positano. Breakfast was provided free of charge, and lots of goodies to choose from The location was amazing with tons of dining and shopping within walking distance. At the end of our trip we were given a little departing gift ... nice touch!

Lovely hotel with spectacular views!Posted May 15, 2016
Wonderful service from Carmella at the front desk made us feel like her personal guests. The hotel has lovely eating venues and a wonderful breakfast You will appreciate the local bus stop right outside the door as walking back up from town and the beach is daunting. One comment for the standard double room - the elevator stops one floor below and you walk up the last flight to your room in the eaves. Ceilings are low and the room is small, but you may not mind when you step out on your private balcony and are dazzled by the view.

Hotel Villa Gabrisa was a wonderful place to stay. The staff were very helpful. There is a walk uphill to the hotel however the views from the room are amazing! Ask the staff about local restaurants as they are some great options close to the hotel.
