Relaxing with a viewPosted Jun 30, 2016
Pros: The location was very convenient to the town of Amalfi and they offer a shuttle upon request but you could also walk. The staff was very helpful
Cons: The hotel interior design of the hotel is a bit austere and I prefer a warmer decor. Some of the rooms have very tiny closets.
Location: There are many transit ferries and buses out of Amalfi to other towns on the coast and so it is a good centralized location.
The hotel is nice and the staff very accommodating. When we checked in our room was on the small side but it had a beautiful terrace. The closet was too small to fit two regular suitcases, with limited hanging space and no drawers. As a result one suitcase ended up in the middle of the room which was a bit too inconvenient. We asked for a room with a bigger closet and we were moved to a new larger room. The staff could not have been more helpful and made all our dinner and lunch reservations in advance of our stay. They decided to flip flopped two dinner reservations so that we could be in town for the celebration of Saint Andrew which proved to be one of our trip highlights.

Great hotel, wonderful staffPosted Jun 16, 2016
We stayed at this hotel at the end of our honeymoon and it was just perfect. Beautiful views, great accommodation, excellent food and the staff were outstanding, extremely helpful and friendly. We loved our stay at the Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi and will return.

Renovated historic convent on Amalfi cliffsPosted Jun 2, 2016
Pros: The view. The renovation & refurbishment of the rooms & hotel in general. The breakfast buffet and F&B staff. The car jockeys and valet/transportation
Cons: HOUSEKEEPING!!! Keeping the checkout billing to only one currency conversion charge.
Location: Amalfi town is best location. Can explore both sides of the coast from this location.. also is central point for ferry boats to all other points
This is one of THE most expensive hotels in Amalfi coast and so we do expect tip top standards. The hotel has been renovated and refurbished very well BUT the housekeeping was really lacking. irregular and inconsistent one day was good the next day was not.. Very disappointing. They gave me a package with TWO left footed slippers in it...and EVERY NIGHT they would lay it out for me to use which i could not and did not...never noticing the problem. The F&B service and the breakfast buffet was excellent. We have to commend the male team members who looked after us especially Alfonso and Kristian. The female staff were lacking and not professional. Sorry but we say it like it is. The worst was the female reception staff who checked me out. She made the final bill amount conversion from euro to usd and asked whether I wanted it on my usd denominated credit card in usd or euros and suggested it would be better for me if I left it in euros. I took her advice only to find that I was hit with TWO conversion charges on my credit card: the first conversion when she translated from euro to usd. the 2nd conversion charge when she listed this amount in euros on my credit card which then converted BACK to usd! The view is beautiful and the valet service/car jockeys are VERY good..BUT I am NOT sure I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends without caveats... namely the housekeeping and conversion charges... otherwise it is a beautiful property.

Tranquil and relaxing hotelPosted May 29, 2016
Pros: Amazing view, professional and friendly staff
Cons: The only negative is the size of some rooms - that can't be changed!
Location: 10 minute walf into Amalfi, possible to walk to neighbouring Atrani and Ravello. Worth hiring a boat to explore the rest of the coast
Beautiful hotel overlooking Amalfi. The hotel Has a tranquil and relaxing feel about it yet you can be in Amalfi in a 10 minute walk. The hotel staff were professional and looked after us very well. Some of the rooms are on the small side (not surprising as it was a previous monastry) but the view makes up for that.

BEAUTIFUL hotel with THE BEST STAFF!!Posted May 9, 2016
We stayed here during our honeymoon and it was a PHENOMENAL experience! The hotel itself is GORGEOUS! It used to be an old convent but has been completely remodeled. They still kept a lot of the original architecture which was breathtaking. Infinity pool was beautiful just like in the pictures. The staff was so friendly and we felt like family with them by the time we left. Paolo, Alfonso, Roberto, and Francesco were the BEST!! Every morning when we came down for breakfast they were there to welcome us with a smile and warm greeting. The food in the hotel restaurant was delicious (we had dinner 3 out of our 9 nights in the hotel). However, the room service food always seemed to be sub-par; which was confusing because every meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner) we had IN the dining room was so delicious. On our last few nights the concierge had developed a list of activities that they placed in the guests rooms. It was something new they were trying out and we welcomed it as there is not a ton to do at the hotel besides the spa and pool. We took part in the Wine Tasting with Massimo, the sommelier. It was fun and very informative. The wine tasting also gave us the opportunity to mingle with the other guests. Overall we had a great experience and the staff really made us feel welcomed and made our honeymoon memorable!!

Amazing AmalfiPosted May 7, 2016
Great hotel, nice food and staff, the spa isn't exactly a spa, it had one masseuse and it was closed on the Sunday

Great hotel, shame about the MUZAKPosted Apr 24, 2016
Pros: Everything but the Muzak
Cons: Ditch the Muzak
One of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in Would have given it 5 but for the MUZAK relayed along most of the long terraced gardens by 12 strategically placed loudspeakers. Why oh why? There was just a small area where you could escape the corporate NH HQ audio loop, and where you could listen to the waves way below and the birds in the trees, in peace and quiet, one of the graet attractions of the hotel's location Elsewhere, we couldn't get it turned off because no-one had the authority do do so, although even the staff told us they hated it. Someone at HQ needs to realise that it this is unacceptable

Wonderful hotelPosted Apr 17, 2016
A really classy hotel. Views amazing. Pool was as good as the photographs. One minor issue at the start was handled very professionally by the hotel. Definitely recommend.

The best Hotel in Amalfi...Posted Jan 2, 2016
Pros: The staff, the view, the facilities. EVERYTHING!
Location: The entrance is directly on a road but the free shuttle service negates this small logistical issue, but if you want to walk you can.
My wife and I recently took a trip here for our anniversary, honestly I was overwhelmed by the hotel staff, nothing was too much trouble. They were amazing, the front of house manager was impressive and within reach whenever we needed anything but distant enough for us to feel alone. Breakfast was amazing and the shuttle service incredibly special, we felt like VIPs the whole weekend. AMAZING! I have already recommended this hotel to two friends. It was so perfect at breakfast, (which was incredible service and the most amazing cappuccinos) but when we ate our breakfast, to a panoramic sun drenched view with Italian music in the background, my wife cried it was so perfect. If you come as a single couple, you would come home engaged! Beautiful.
