Conference at Iowa State

Posted Sep 21, 2016
Cons: Kennedy (sp) should be re-trained in hospitality.
Friday night late I was greeted by a wonderful ambassador for the facility, the area and the profession. He was quick, courteous and quite informative without being asked. He knew I wanted to check in and get to my room, and he did everything to expedite my arrival and check in. THEN, on Saturday morning I called the front office to ask for an ironing board as there was none in my room. That's when my experience at this facility went south. A real terror of negativity, Kennedy (sp), answered my call to tell me my ironing board was bolted to the wall by my room's door. I politely informed her there was an iron but no board anywhere in my room or bolted to any of the room's walls. So she explained that she didn't know where one was as they were all bolted to other room walls and the motel was full so no room could be used to iron. I then asked her if housekeeping had one and she didn't know and didn't have time to check. I told her o k and hung up. I ironed my clothing on the carpet, as I have survivalist skills. I didn't call on Sat afternoon or Sunday morning, but I am writing the hotel. She (Kennedy (sp) ) was my check out agent and confirmed her ice cold attitude in person as I had to ask her in detail for a printed receipt and as she printed it she seemed aloof and pained that she actually had to do what a customer wanted. I'll call the motel and speak to management for a credit and help them understand some staff is clueless and some rooms don't have necessary stuff.

super dated

Posted May 11, 2016
Pros: i liked the price
Cons: the rooms still felt dingy because of the carpet
Location: it was really far from ISU
the rooms felt kind of gross to me you could tell they used to be smoking, the tile in the bathroom felt gross. The whole room was just dated and I will probably stay somewhere else next time.

Disappointed

Below our expectations for this franchise. This hotel needs an upgrade especially in the bathroom.

Clean, comfortable, exceeded expectation @ price

The title explains it all. Not a five star experience, but didn't expect it to be. A nice hotel at a bargain price.

Great Hotel!

Posted Feb 4, 2016
I enjoyed my stay at the Country Inn. The room was clean and the staff were super friendly and accommodating. I really appreciated the fact that they had fresh cookies and coffee out all day. The breakfast was delicious, with a great variety. I would definitely come back to this hotel for my future travels.

Filthy, Very Noisy , & Run Down

Posted Oct 22, 2015
Pros: The staff that I worked with, was trying very hard to help and friendly and apologetic.
We arrived at 9pm for meetings the next 2 days. We got to the room, it smelled bad, the floor along the walls had not been vacuumed for some time. I took a wet rag to check if dirty or sun bleached .The rag was black dirty and hairy. There was food on floor, items behind TV stand, beds & end table, hand prints on the walls, cobwebs to the ceilings. I then went to the bathroom to inspect, toilet seat was just gross and black and orange mold and other unmentionables. I wiped up before we could sit down. I went to take a shower (grossed out not wanting to touch anything and worrying about possible unseen stuff in room, the seat in shower was lifted up, full blown BLACK MOLD thick(the smell found), I finished the shower, got out took a white rag and wiped up one spot and proceeded down to the front desk, rag in hand. The desk lady was pleasant and helpful, they did have another room. It was a step up, but still dirty,no battery in smoke alarm, shower head falling off wall, cobwebs from lights, and so loud, you could hear when someone turned the light off on the wall, & sounds like the floor was falling in when they walked. We had meetings at the college career fair the next 2 days, made it impossible to find a hotel and now 10pm and could not getting a new hotel for our second day, because of check in time and cancel reservation possibility. This hotel is run down and needs an update, I understand that aspect, I have stayed in rooms that need some love, but not dirty.
