I have a wonderful testimony of my stay at Stoney Creek in Des Moines, Iowa. I did a dumb thing and decided I was going to put my wallet under the mattress while I went down to sit in the hot tub and then totally forgot to get it when I left the next morning. I stopped 25 miles out of Kansas City to get gas and I freaked when I realized what I had done. Called the Hotel and spoke to the manager and he went up and found it and had it sent to my home! I can't remember his name but I am soooooo grateful. Thankfully a police officer filled up my tank and got me home. Stoney Creek Hotel in Des Moines is always my place to stay when I travel north to Minneapolis/Wisconsin!!!! Deb Carlson

The separate cottages with a walking path between them was a nice addition and made getting to the breakfast area a breeze. The decor in the cottages was very quaint and the theme was consistent throughout the properties. The breakfast had multiple offerings for entrees (eggs, potatoes, sausage links, and French toast), juices, breads (including a pancake maker), and cereals and yogurts. The bed was comfy. The massage chair in our room got plenty of use! Would easily stay here again!

Online it looked like a great weekend heat away from southern Iowa. When we got here there was no parking, rooms smelt like weed, the pool area was out of control with ton of kids in the hot tub even though it’s 14 yrs and over only. Drunk people in the pool area with tons of kids. We won’t be returning :(

The staff when I got there was rough. I stood at the counter for about 10 min while they chatted around the corner, friendliest was very low during check in. They ran out of tp in the pool bathroom, towels in the pool room, breakfast foods ran out, the juice & water machine was broken. All in the one night stay we were there. Cleanliness was good. Breakfast staff was friendly!

I really enjoyed the lodge feel that Stoney Creek offered. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The carpet in the elevator needed to be cleaned...it had an odor. Overall, i enjoyed the stay.

Breakfast was good but lacking. Juice machine broke, food was cold, the individual working the breakfast area clearly hated her job and was having a hard time keeping up with demand. Pancake machine was out, half the breakfast items were out, etc. Pool towels were almost never available.
